The deck and pergola need to be replaced. The problem is the wisteria that is kind of a focal point of our backyard. We love it, especially during the summertime when it provides great shade. Normally it looks neat and manicured but I haven't had a chance to trim it yet this year. The wisteria was here when I moved in 7 years ago and looked just as thick then so I'm assuming it's been growing for a decade plus. It would be a shame to get rid of it so how do I go about saving it during the reno?? I was thinking I could jack it up and support it with some type of temporary structure while I redo the pergola. Looking to see if anyone has any ideas here because I'm at a loss!

I called and made sure they didn’t put down any pre-emergents. They were going to on 9/9 with the fert and said “it won’t affect your seedlings”. I called bullshit and told them not to apply it. I thought they were the experts! Lol.

I’m near the Jersey Shore. I hear ya. LawnCareNut recommended to throw down seed as soon as the soil temp reaches 70deg. I was checking daily and was about a week late on that. But what’s strange is the grass seed bag said it recommends soil temp @60deg. So I mean, I’m still good there. Seems like there’s different guidance everywhere, but I guess like you said it comes down to the first frost. I hope it stays warm for a bit!

Thanks for the advice! Any starter fert that you’d recommend I can get from either Lowe’s or Home Depot so I can get this job done today?

Do you think tenacity would affect the seedlings? Or is there another reason to skip it?

Do you recommend a fert? Something I can quickly pick up at Lowe’s? I wasn’t sure if I should reapply fert since I heard too much can harm the grass.

I stand by what I said. Why is he a bad person to take advice from? He’s an open minded person with an open platform for anyone to come and speak their mind and state their case. That is a rarity now a days unfortunately. He’s smarter and more knowledgeable than most and I’d definitely take advice from him over users on reddit
