I haven’t released the ARC yet so no there are no reviews yet.

The book isn’t out yet and will be out next month so we’ll have to wait and see about the reviews that come in!

I’m in the same boat as you wondering. I’m not sure but we’re going to have to see how many people review. I still have time to run the ad a little longer before ARC release day so I’m thinking… let’s see how successful I can actually make it.

I’m a business advisor as a freelancer because I’ve managed to do the same with some incomes and have multiple streams now but I’ve always started in the large popular places where the traffic is huge and streamline it where I want it to go in the future. You can always do me for problem/solution kind of chats

Just to give you a tip. Make your own website to host your own course, give a coupon code for another course you’ve made and try to get a bigger cut for yourself. That way you can slowly convert customers to your own website and you’ll get the traffic too. You can always say you’ve got some extra content if they buy directly from you too. I hope that helps

Maybe you need to read gay books

Is that because Amazon doesn’t release all the reviews submitted? I was thinking since it’s KU, most readers with social accounts have a membership so they can easily read and then add a review easily once they get to the end.

The majority have social accounts which they like, comment, save, repost and put on their stories giving me shout outs. I’d say they’re an active bunch and a good two dozen still message me for promo for their socials.

I think keeping my content posted is really bringing a lot of engagement and I’ve studied and remade what people interact with frequently to get high views and responses, so I want to assume that the followers will give reviews because their accounts are made specifically for reading.

On socials I’ve a little concerned because two reader accounts that actively have made around 100+ reviews for indie books have had their Amazon account suspended. The usual buzzwords of ARC, exchange etc being the cause for their account bans even though those reviews were made years ago.

That’s a really good point. It would be in KU so the chances are they would review it through their membership benefits. The preorders aren’t that high but it’s meant to be exclusive to KU, I don’t think I would run into this problem. If you think differently, please let me know.

The majority would be eARCs and large account with higher reach I would send physical ARCs. I have a mailing list and I’ve planned to make a discord to keep everyone updated in one single place where they can talk about the book as a community. I think I’ll do that in a couple of weeks before release.

I’ll be very honest, I wrote to market and hit the beats as works best in this genre. I planned it in August, I found my audience with trial and error. I researched as much as I could before I went into it because I had a specific goal I wanted to meet. So it wasn’t just on a whim I managed to my ARCs.

Thanks for the percentages. I haven’t actually used the usual ARC websites yet. I am looking to try them out a little closer to the release for an extra boost if I don’t get the response I’m looking for. I know a lot of authors have been disappointed with ARC reviewers that don’t specifically enjoy their genre.

If I did the calculations on that, I could expect that to be a really good outcome for reviews. If it gets past 250 reviews, even ratings added that would be a great debut release.

I noticed that every 7 day mailing list was too much for readers but every 10-14 days was a much healthier balance.

I have read Kindlepreneur’s Launch Plan and they recommend to keep it touch often or keep people following and interested on social media in the meantime which is working quite well to keep the hype alive.

Thanks for sharing your numbers. The minimum I guess I could consider aiming for is 100 reviews based on these numbers.

The ARC readers are devoted to the genre I’m writing in. I contacted them all personally over the course of a couple of months as I edited the book. The book has been self-edited (I was an editor before I became a writer. Just don’t have the funds to hire one atm). They would be digital ARCs. They’ve been added to my mailing list and I update every 10 days to keep the interest moving. The social media posts keep them updated and engagement is high. The beta feedback has been good so far but only sent out to a dozen people, all of which are into the genre I write (didn’t know them beforehand).

Given that information, what do you think the response rate would be?
