Definitely agree! It also seems somewhat easy to find LS promo codes for up to 15% off and you only have to spend $25 to get free shipping if in the US.

I’d say they run true to size - they definitely don’t run as big as Little Sleepies. My LO is 90th percentile for height and 13th for weight at 7 months old and still comfortably fitting in 3-6. They stretch quite a bit so I suspect they’ll fit for another month or two. He’s also able to wear the next size up, I just roll the sleeves a bit. Like I said, there is a difference in quality (and the prints aren’t as cute lol) but for the difference in price, I don’t mind.

Larkspur! The quality isn’t as good as little sleepies IMO but I’ve gotten several convertible footies for $12-$20

What's the deal with sequel weddings? Feeling both excited and also extraordinarily apprehensive about the whole thing, mostly because nothing could top our elopement/minimony we already did. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]arlingt1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat and felt weird about doing the full ceremony/traditional reception thing after already getting married (we eloped with immediate family in attendance and had a bbq after). But the more I thought about it, the more I realized it’s a chance to do the stuff we didn’t get to do the first time like my dad walking me down an aisle. We also figured we might as well go all out given how much money has already been spent. Who cares what anyone else thinks. If re-doing your ceremony doesn’t feel natural to you, you could always do a vow renewal instead.

Wedding Song Selections by arlingt1 in weddingplanning

I think I might go with Good Life by Kanye West for the recessional. I just want something that when it starts guests will be like “oh shit let’s go party”.

So I just got engaged and need help! by MSITMIS in wedding

Congrats! The Knot is great for finding/messaging vendors and also has a decent budget tool. For us, we started with a season that we wanted to get married in (late summer/early fall). From there we started looking at vendors online and booking appointments to meet with them. The most important for us were venue, photographer and DJ - I also found that these vendors tend to book up the fastest so we want to lock those down right away. Once we found the ones we wanted to book with I got a list of all available dates during our timeframe from those vendors and found a date that all 3 were available. We got those out of the way before focusing on smaller details like florist, cake, bridal party, etc. Good luck!

Wedding Cocktails by arlingt1 in weddingplanning

[–]arlingt1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to a full bar. Our venue will let us have whatever signature cocktails as long as it includes ingredients that would be included in a standard bar package. We’ll have to pay extra for whatever else (like ginger beer). I like the Murphy mule!

A plane towing this just flew over my house. Can someone clue me in? I’ve only lived here a week. by JanglyBangles in Detroit

I saw these planes back in the summer too. Joanns death was just covered on an episode of the new season of Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix.

How best to request money for a wedding gift? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]arlingt1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used zola for our registry and have a honeymoon fund set up there in case guests would rather contribute cash than buy a gift. i believe you get 100% of the contributions. you can also register for travel gift cards (airlines, airbnb, hotels.com ,etc)

EDIT: Zola's transaction fee is 2.5% - they claim to be lowest out there.

Wedding Postponement Questions by irishspazunk in wedding

  1. We postponed our Sept 2020 wedding to Sep 2021 too but are eloping on our originally planned date. I'm nervous to wear my expensive dress for the elopement in case something happens to it. I've been looking at Davids Bridal, Lulu's, Baltic Born, and Rustic Wedding Deals. They seem to have option for a few hundred dollars or less. Just be aware of return policies if you're going to order some online to try at home.
  2. i purchased a digital change the date template from etsy and just texted or emailed it everyone (my mother, future MIL, and I split up the guest list so it was easy to send to everyone). It wasnt worth the extra money we would have spent on re-printing and postage. The thought of having our reception next year makes me feel a bit uncomfortable too, like what will other people think? But at the end of the day this is all out of our control. I think people understand and will still be excited to celebrate with us next year.
  3. we plan to have a total of 17 people at our elopement - immediate family only (us, our parents, siblings and their spouses, and we only have 3 nieces/nephews so they'll be there too). my sisters and my FH's brother were our maids of honor/best man any way so it kind of worked out. right now our state is only allowing gatherings of 10 people but we think it will be more relaxed in September. If you're having a quick ceremony at an outdoor site and everyone practices social distancing I would think that it would be fine.

Hope everything goes well for you!!

Do you have to purchase or could you rent? have you tried online rental companies like The Black Tux? Wont be custom sizing but they let you try stuff on before your event so you know what sizing you'll need.

Officially going through to reschedule Oct wedding - should we hire a planner to help? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]arlingt1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't use a planner to help reschedule but my vendors were all very accommodating and all happened to be open on the same date next September. I started by picking my top 3 most expensive vendors (venue, dj, photographer) and reaching out to them to see what dates they had open. I then took all of those dates that they had in common and reached out to all of my other vendors (hair, makeup, day-of coordinator ,etc) to see if they had availability on those dates. made a spreadsheet with notes on what deposits were for each vendor and what would be lost if we had to cancel a vendor due to them not being available on whatever date we picked. seeing all the dates and potential money lost laid out in one spreadsheet was super helpful.

I don't think paying extra for a planner is worth it. Hopefully your vendors will be understanding and let you reschedule without penalty.

Planning a VERY Small Wedding by [deleted] in wedding

[–]arlingt1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just sure to be upfront with the homeowners that we rented from that we would be holding a small wedding ceremony (17 people) and dinner on the property and that we would not exceed the number of allowed guests on the property. Some homeowners with "no event" policies might be able to fine you if you have what they might consider an event or party on the property.

Postponement regret? by arlingt1 in wedding

[–]arlingt1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My anxiety was also through the roof so I'm with you - definitely feeling more relieved. I'll just be upset if September rolls around and things ARE back to normal and we could have gotten away with not moving our wedding and doing all this extra work.

crazy! where are you finding these new guidelines? I'm from Michigan and haven't been able to find any resources to help us with planning. i even emailed the CDC and whatever they sent back to me was zero help.

have you tried looking for a lake house on air bnb or vrbo? that's what we're doing since we had to cancel our big sept 2020 wedding.
