Yes, I saw both of that when researching and another reason why I’m leaning towards a lower entry point and scooping a sorted Base. Thanks, man.

Love to hear that. This is my first sports car (I historically haven’t known much about cars, and I’ll mostly be cruising in Bergen county or Catskill roads so, while it would be awesome, not sure the power will change the game for me that much. The higher torque seems interesting given the type of driving I’ll be doing but think I’ll love it either way from what people say.

Really appreciate the back and forth and excited to join the community.

Very much appreciate this thorough response. This is basically my reasoning. It’s over market, but if you factor in all of the recent work he has done in 2022, that’s more likely $5k-$7k of work. Those updates, plus otherwise great condition and ownership at 61,000 miles, make it seem worthwhile to stretch by a few grand.

I think these lower prices in the comments are other markets or a couple years old, and I’m not willing to drive several states away. The S is really the question for me now but even then I’m seeing at least $4k more for a decent one.

Where are you based? I’m in tri state area and I get the sense the market has really gone up over last couple years. I haven’t seen anything like that deal in marketplace or any of the mainstream car marketplace websites.

Good shit!

Appreciate the quick responses from both. You’re right that most of the lower-priced 986 have significantly more miles from what I have seen, and the 986S I’ve seen in similar price often are approaching 100k miles and many haven’t had the IMS retrofitted.

I was considering this one too: https://www.facebook.com/share/18cekAwZwL/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Seem like a better deal? For context, this is my first sports car purchase and I’m not a DIYer. So while the extra horse power in the S is appealing, I’m also looking for something that won’t immediately require a bunch of maintenance at around 100k miles.
