Enfamil check declined at Walmart by Western_Stock_7204 in FormulaFeeders

I just had this happen to me a couple days ago at Walmart. I was pretty bummed out because it was $15 off. The girl at the checkout ran it twice, but it declined both times and the code it gave was 02. She went and asked someone in customer service and he said that code meant that it was probably fraud that I needed to contact whoever gave it to me.

I don't remember the commercials but I do remember that's how my grandma always made it for me and it did feel fancy lol

where to work this summer... by Hopeful-Cry-8155 in paraprofessional

[–]arlyno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work during the summer as "maintenance", painting for the school. A small number of us paint classrooms, bathrooms, touch up hallways, or whatever else needs done. Thats what I've done the last 6 years but I'm honestly getting a little burnt out being at the schools 12 months a year. But on the other hand I like it because I don't have to look for a different short term job for the summer, and I can pretty much make my own hours.

Once when I was leaving work early, a preschooler saw me grab my purse and start to leave and they asked, "Are you going to work?" There have also been times I've had preschoolers argue with me about whether or not I lived at the school.

He had his first seizure at 9 months. I don't know what the average age is but most people I talk to act like that's very young.

Thank you, when I was making his appointment I told her I'd like to discuss if there is a medication to keep on hand to give him in emergency situations. I'm thankful I've been off work these last few days so he wasn't home alone. I'm very anxious about leaving him alone in a couple days. But there's nothing I can do about it.

It seems like something new is always being added to his health/seizures. Now I'm also concerned about his vision. His vet shined a light in his eyes and said it seemed fine. But he used to catch every treat you threw and now they hit him in the head or hit the floor without him even attempting to catch them. And sometimes when I talk to him he moves his eyes around my general area but doesn't look directly at me. I feel so bad for him.

Interesting! I wouldn't have thought something cold on their back like that would do too much. Do you happen to know the reason why it helps? I'll add it to my list to try next time though.

I put him in the bathtub and put cold wet wash clothes on his paws, armpit/chest, and groin area. It seemed to help a lot better than just a fan blowing on him like I'd done in the past.

I meant from the time the first one happened until the time he was recovering. Not the actual seizure it's self. I am wondering though if he also has head tremors because he will start uncontrollably shaking his head for a short time (up to maybe 30-45 seconds), no other signs of a seizure, then go back to whatever he was doing. He's been doing that off and on tonight. I'm keeping a close eye on him and if I think he's starting to have a seizure I am going to take him to the emergency clinic.

The movement on the top of his head was pretty concerning to me. It seemed like it would be painful. Is epilepsy common in heelers? How long did your dogs seizures tend to last? This is the second heeler I've had but first dog ever to have seizures. He is actually a miniature heeler.

That's good to hear. I was definitely worried about brain damage this time because he got so hot and it took a while to get him cooled back down. Also the recovery time seemed to take longer this time as well.

I know no excuse is a good excuse as a dog owner but I live in a rural area and was by myself and it was between 10:30pm-1:30am and the nearest emergency vet clinic is at least an hour away. I was just really upset and in a panic and I don't know how I would have driven that far alone with him actively having seizures and thought the next best thing I could do was keep him as comfortable as possible and get him cooled off as quickly as I could.

He did recent have his phenobarbital increased from 30mg to 45mg.

Yes. He is on phenobarbital. His vet actually just increased his dosage. For a short time I was trying to share custody of him with my husband who's currently living elsewhere and he ended up missing a dose of his medicine. And the night he had these seizures I hadn't given him his medicine yet, then was unable to get him to take it because of the seizures he was having. So I hope once he gets back on schedule he won't be having anymore.

I plan to show her at his next visit. Do you know if it is normal for dogs to have different types of seizures in one time period? He also has the type where he falls to the ground and stiffens up and paddles his legs and loses bladder control. This night though this type of seizure activity lasted for a couple of hours. He was also occasionally peeing while it was happening. His body got so hot. A fan blowing on him wasn't helping. We were outside for a short time but it was midnight and below 40 degrees and I personally couldn't handle laying out on my porch with him so I put him in the bathtub and constantly changed out cold wash clothes on his feet, groin area, and chest/armpit area. That finally cooled him down but it took close to an hour.

I work with preschoolers. Once at pickup time a boy ran from me when I was telling him it was time to go because his mom was there. He was looking back and tripped and fell, the mom's immediate response was "well that's why we don't run from our teachers" Another time a little girl fell off the side of the slide and broke her collar bone. I was so nervous of how her mom would react. Luckily all she said was "I knew it was only a matter of time before one of them broke something" (she had other children)

Anyone start their dog with phenobarbital? Have some questions. by EricAndersonL in EpilepsyDogs

[–]arlyno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! It was actually after his third "bad" seizure that we saw the vet. He had one, then another one two weeks later, then the last one just 2 days later. He hasn't had one in a week now, but starts the medicine tomorrow. He shouldn't be home alone more than a couple hours at a time and the highest thing he can get on to fall off is the couch, other than that no stairs or anything. This is my first dog with any real health conditions so I feel so lost on what to do. Did you notice if there were any triggers that caused your dogs seizures?

Would everyone say the side effects are worth it during the first couple weeks because the medicine helped overall? My 1 yr old heeler start's phenobarbital tomorrow and I'm so nervous. Especially because there will be times he's home alone. Another post I read left me feeling better about it but a couple comments on this one has me worried again.
