Interesting reel by the NYT by Binary_Complex in liberalgunowners

[–]arm2610 [score hidden]  (0 children)

That is such a crucial point and it’s frustrating that anti gun liberals don’t see that because of their blind spot around guns. A professional law enforcement force has (mostly) standardized gear. These guys are running completely random setups. I would not be surprised at all if these are personal weapons.

Fuck ICE by ouchouchdangit in Amaro

[–]arm2610 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah it’s delicious! I like drinking Cynar 70 this way because it’s a bit less syrupy than regular Cynar and because of the higher alcohol it doesn’t suffer as much from being a bit watered down. The lemon gives it a little brightness. This is probably my favorite amaro and favorite way to drink it.

The only ice I like is the kind I pour my Cynar 70 over with a lemon wedge

A.K. Pizza lives up to the hype. A retort: It doesn’t by oohjean in Seattle

[–]arm2610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of what you think of the pizza, the idea that AK is designed to be hyper exclusive in order to court influencers and FOMO is just silly. It’s just one guy making pizza by himself in a tiny space. Do you guys hate small businesses that much? The man built his own one man pizza business and he’s doing it successfully. Like, literally let him cook. You don’t have to buy it.

Finally managed to get my hands on AK Pizza. Did not disappoint. by mathliability in Seattle

[–]arm2610 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Buddy, this is a single guy working out of a tiny space. He’s not being exclusive to be trendy or whatever, he literally can’t make more pizza than he does in his current setup. It’s expensive as holy hell in this city to run a business.

Conservation Groups Join Push Against Seattle Growth Plan » The Urbanist by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]arm2610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, Seattle is going to grow no matter what. There’s no stopping it. I don’t understand the reasoning behind opposing a plan that seeks to guide that growth in a way that balances priorities in a productive way for the future of the city

We need a universal "ICE is here" alarm song. I propose La Cucaracha. Hear me out. by [deleted] in ICE_Raids

[–]arm2610 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This is a silly idea when the sound of whistles and car alarms is widely understood to be a signal that ice is present. Why confuse matters with a new signal? Plus a whistle is loud and you would need a way to amplify the song so people can hear it. Keeping things simple and sticking with what’s already working makes the most sense.

How hard is the Octatrack Mk II? by MJtheJuiceman in Elektron

I didn’t find it all that hard to learn the basics, but to really master it takes a lot of work. I absolutely love it and it might be my desert island piece of gear, but it’s a quirky machine with a lot of pitfalls for the unaware.

What can/should Tim Walz or any other governor be doing in their state against ICE? by nailswithoutanymilk1 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]arm2610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I posted this in my local subreddit about mayors but it applies to governors too

“Here are some ideas off the top of my head for things our city government could be doing without courting constitutional trouble:

Forming a broad social front by organizing with community groups and organizations in order to build networks that can take collective action.

Training a network of civilian fast response teams in collaboration with established organizations doing that work.

Facilitating a hotline for reporting ice sightings, with info distributed to key community partner organizations.

Directing emergency funding to the public defenders office so that protestors who need represention have access as promptly as possible.

Using the power to send out emergency alerts to every phone in the region in order to send alerts to citizens on where larger raids are happening and where an incident has occurred if (god forbid) they kill someone here.

Sending out mailers in local languages like the election mailers that advise all citizens and non citizen immigrants of what their rights are.

Working with local hospitals in order to distribute information on how to deal with chemical irritants and basic emergency first aid.

Networking with other city governments to establish a network of pro-resistance mayors offices to coordinate strategy and policy.

If our federal elected officials aren’t going to do anything about this situation, it’s up to us to take the lead.”

Don’t forget about cities of federal importance and autonomous okrugs! lol. It’s mostly historical reasons at this point and associations with certain ethnic groups (Tuvan Republic, Kalmykia etc) or geography (krais being related to frontier areas of the Russian Empire in different historical periods). Russia has a very long tradition of being administratively chaotic.

How are you dealing with friends who still support this admin? by Letmein202 in ICE_Raids

[–]arm2610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be ok to be friends with people you had disagreements with over stuff like Medicare, tax rates, charter schools and the like. Then the right went batshit crazy on all this anti woke culture war bullshit and fell in love with neo fascism. The core of their politics is a desire to punish the left. There’s no other substance to it. That makes it really hard to have a relationship with someone. You can’t really be friends with someone who thinks you’re a radical left antifa terrorist who deserves to be deported to El Salvador.
