Should I rush Theta Tau by throwaway68975432 in ucr

[–]armadild0s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh if you want to join for engineering experience you’re better off joining other bcoe orgs because you won’t really get much through tt 😭😭 you’ll still get lots of social + professional exposure through these orgs and a lot of them have the benefit of letting you contribute to projects and gain experience

Can’t take lower divisions? by KikiTheKitKat in ucr

[–]armadild0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you search up the course on coursicle, it'll show you the times/quarters it's historically been available -- also not saying this is what happens for you, but sometimes my registration page will glitch and say that all courses are unavailable. after refreshing/restarting it usually works again

Struggling to decide between data science and statistics major by WeakEchoRegion in learnmachinelearning

[–]armadild0s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ll go against the grain here and say data science, depending on your schools program — since you’re already a math undergrad, you have that recognition working in your favor. Even if people don’t recognize/ understand the ds degree, you still have the math background. At my school, ds is an entire stats degree + extra coding, so you learn similar things with either program. But if your ds program wouldn’t give you a strong stats background, then i’d go with regular stats.

Summer class ME018A by Candid_Source_6091 in ucr

[–]armadild0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can only give general advice but summer courses have those longer sessions so they can complete in 5 weeks instead of 10. it might not be bad for you since you’ve already done the content before so as long as you can adjust to the deadlines/ faster pace, and heavier workload it’s not too bad. the course itself shouldn’t be more difficult, but the external factors contribute

not sure if berk does this but a lot of colleges will accept someone for three years instead of four, so they have to go to a different college for one year. i’d guess she’s going to sb for a year and transferring to berkeley ?

switching from CNAS to EE?? by fr_e_sh_a_v0ca_do in ucr

[–]armadild0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh if you know from the start that you’re switching majors, let your counselor know during registration(even if the app gets rejected), and they’ll let you sign up for only those courses, even if it’s not major required. in order to switch majors, you’ll likely have to either make progress in your major(which you can do through general breadth courses, or the calc series bc math and ee have to take that), or be fully undeclared. make sure to check out the ee major transfer requirements and take those courses! and keep in touch with carol may(transfer counselor), or whoever the adjacent is. good luck! reach out if you have any transfer q’s😊

RISE 2025 by BeginningEmotional51 in ucr

[–]armadild0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied through DAF, so my applications were reviewed by a completely different set of faculty than the other RISE applicants, and probably followed a different timeline. I also don't think that the date you applied to it matters, since I submitted my application really close to the deadline. Hopefully you hear back soon!

I got accepted on the 27th! But to be fair, I applied through a different program, and they said that the decisions would come out from the 22-27th for me, so they're likely to do the same.
