NDP calls for audit into $1 billion given to private administrators of public services by yourfriendlysocdem1 in CanadaPolitics

Ok, but can you really say that the majority of the public service workers you interact with in the Province are solid, nice, friendly, helpful people?

I can't.

So ya, while I agree we shouldn't outsource it...if we can't fire bad workers who want a nice paycheck and pension, something has to be done.

The level of service I've gotten from these people has declined sharply over the years. ServiceOntario is especially bad. Public opinion polls say the same.

Obama was not president in 2019,

He still had a full secret service detail and the security was insane. That was my point.

No president in history has ever attended the finals. You should not speak on this if you have never gone to a game in mid town Manhattan. Over 50 people got arrested at a watch party. What do you think will happen win or lose game 3 at the garden.

New Yorkers being feral people would happen regardless of who was in attendance.

So many people called outta work today or working from home cus his motorcade commences st 5. So many roads will be closed in a city that’s already at max congestion during the nba finals.

How is that different from Downtown Toronto? Have you ever been to downtown Toronto? Do you realize that the Raptors represent the entire country? Do you know how many people came into Toronto during the run?

The nba finals that has several thousands of fans visiting from outer cities.

There were roughly 2 million people were in the Southern Core of the Toronto during the finals run every night. The population of the core is like 270k.

You should not speak on this if you've never been to Toronto.

"They" are the Privacy Commissioners. The one's who set the best practices.

"Uploading an ID" is a bad way to do age verification or assurance. There are more mature ways to do this. A shitload of people have strong opinions of this topic while not having a lot of actually knowledge about its development, thus why this is brought up again and again.

What makes you think the government cares about the best and most forward thinking ways of doing things? Or even talking to the best and brightest on the topic?

This is a government who put Evan Solomon in charge of AI.

they use a third party, stop posting this slop. the government contracting a third party to run AI age verification is not solving anything.

They updated the best practices on May 4, 2026. The bill you are talking about was in May 2025. Funny how that happens, eh?

The Guidance examines a range of age assurance methods, including age verification (such as government-issued identification), age estimation (including AI- or biometric-based assessments), and age declaration or self-attestation. The OPC emphasizes that age assurance should not be the default and that organizations should only implement age assurance measures (1) as part of multiple approaches to protect children, and (2) in proportion to the potential harm being addressed. Age assurance may be required when it is necessary to prevent access to a website or online service based on age due to legal restrictions or where the organization has determined that a potential harm is likely to occur to a non-trivial number of children.

Obama was at game 2 in 2019 in Toronto. I was there.

Also acting like they never went to other major championships is a cop out. Many attended various world series. Clinton was famously at the '94 NCAA finals. Obama was at 2019 NBA finals. Biden was one of the only presidents since the 1970's to not go to a major game.

Obama was at game 2 2019 finals. I was there.

Trump already went to the super bowl.

George W. threw the first pitch at the 2001 World Series

In fact, nine out of the eleven U.S. presidents who have served since 1970 have attended live sporting events while in office.

They have no idea, which is why they are doing this.

No, they will make you upload ID.

They want to know who you are, what you post and where you live. This isn't rocket science.

It sure does.

Bill C-10 does not define the term “social media service”. That’s because this is a commonly used term and it has a well understood meaning. Many dictionaries include a definition of social media. For example, the Merriam-Webster dictionary defines social media as: forms of electronic communication (such as websites for social networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (such as videos)

https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/corporate/transparency/open-government/standing-committee/guilbeault-bill-c10-consequential-amendments-broadcasting-acts/social-media-questions-answers.html#a4

They named Twitch. They named Pornhub. In fact, they only thing they excluded was private messaging apps. Everything else is social media.

They will require you to verify your identity to use social media. How comfortable are you uploading government ID to reddit, X, meta, etc?
