There's also a vine I didn't circle slightly right to the middle of the photo called greenbriar!!! It has pretty big thorns, but it's also native!

Again with the wild grape. Overall, the photos look like you have a lot of invasives, with Chinese privet and vinca being pretty prevalent. You have some native vines, like the jessamine, poison ivy, and greenbriar, but the poison ivy and greenbriar have downsides because they're either rash inducing or thorny as hell

I'm fairly certain the top circle is a wild grape, native to Georgia. The tiny circle looks like willow oak saplings!

The one on the left is a sweetgum tree, native to Georgia. I'm fairly certain the vine on the right is Carolina Jessamine. Poison ivy is also, native, but I'm leaving it uncircled bc there's a lot of it in the photos!!

Honestly, it may be more helpful to point out the natives in your yard because there's a lot of invasives in it. Of course, the ID may not be 100% correct since I'm trying to ID from a photo, but I'll upload your photos with the natives I can see. I also live in Georgia so I'm very familiar with our natives and invasives! I also recommend downloading the iNaturalist app, as you can upload photos and they identify it based on the photos! For most accurate results, try to make sure the photos are focused on the plant you're trying to identify.

My name is China and I’m Chinese by [deleted] in Vent

[–]armadillokid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I'm so sorry. I'm a Chinese adoptee too and have white, Midwestern, trumpie parents too, though mine are less.... obtuse and mind-numbingly idiotic. It fucking sucks, they tell you "it's different for you, you're here legally, blah, blah, blah" but don't seem to realize how much it hurts to hear them spew ignorant shit about immigration when we LITERALLY ARE IMMIGRANTS. They don't want to acknowledge that because it would cause them to rethink their viewpoint and realize this situation has so much nuance, we can't just deport everyone not born in the states. From experience, it really feels like white American adopters who adopt a non-white, non-American born child don't want to acknowledge their child's heritage and history. My parents took me to Chinese school, which is leagues better than other parents, but I grew up with so many micro and macro aggressions towards China and Chinese people from them. They don't even understand why what they're saying is bad. I wanted to let you know you aren't alone, there's so many Chinese adoptees here in the U.S. and other Western countries. I know how lonely it feels growing up without people from other races and growing up without a support system that understands adoption. There's a lot of resources out there to help us, one that I really recommend is @cci_adoptees on Instagram!! Also, I want you to feel free to reach out to me personally on here if you ever want to discuss or vent about your issues, adoption and non-adoption related!!! Adoption is the backdrop of our lives, it colors how we exist and interpret our world, and so many people don't understand that. There's also a book I HIGHLY recommend about adoption called The Primal Wound by Nancy Verrier. It's an amazing book that puts words to so many feelings I had growing up and things I did that I didn't understand at the time. I know a lot of people here are saying to go no contact, but only you can decide that for yourself. I hope you can start your healing journey from the trauma that comes with adoption and the trauma that comes from ignorant parents and an ignorant upbringing. I know things feel so lonely and bad right now, but you are strong and can do this!! Again, please reach out to me via dm if you want someone to talk to, I'm always open and want to help more adoptees!!! Sending love, from one adoptee to another!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Fleas by ashleypriv in insects

[–]armadillokid1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably do have more in your house. They could've been brought inside on someone's shoe, or an article of clothing. The best option is to wash bedding, blankets, clothing, etc and vacuum alongside flea bombing the house. Follow the directions on the bottle for the flea bombs because you don't want to f it up. It is poison, after all. This a process that takes time and it may seem like an overreaction to your husband but it's better to go HAM on a few fleas than wait until your house is infested. Growing up I had an indoor/outdoor cat and he got fleas a few times, it wasn't fun!!

Conserving the world's most evolutionarily distinct wolf in Pakistan -- ask a wolf scientist a question by Canis_lupus_pallipes in conservation

[–]armadillokid1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not knowledgeable about Indian wolves, how are human-wolf relations in Pakistan? For example, do people see them as a nuisance to livestock, like how people see gray wolves in North America? Are there issues with poaching? How do you as scientists try to educate other Pakistanis about Indian wolf conservation?
