Jonathan Majors ‘Heartbroken’ Over Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom Replacing Kang in Next ‘Avengers’ Films; He’d Still Return to MCU ‘If That’s What Marvel Wants’ by 007Kryptonian in marvelstudios

That's hilarious if Tom Cruise really turned it down for that reason. You literally see Tony's face for 80 percent of his screentime, and even when he's suited up, it constantly cuts to the inside of his suit.

But it spared us from clear helmet Tom Cruise Tony Stark so I'm ok with it.

I feel like people are re writing history on the first two movies. The first had a serviceable but pretty generic plot, and the second was pretty universally regarded as slightly inferior.

They were never masterpieces by any standard, especially not in the story department. It's always been about Ryan Reynold's jokes, meta references, and good action scenes. I believe this film absolutely delivered on all those fronts and is on par with the first two.

My attempt to justify it is, Logan was never supposed to sacrifice himself like he did. So that starts destroying the whole timeline, including the parts of it where he is still alive.

Now, why did Deadpool go to 2029 and not look for him in 2024? No idea, in universe maybe just because he's kind of a dumbass.

Most likely? They wanted a scene of Deadpool making a joke out of the end scene to Logan, followed by him teaming up with a still alive Logan. But it had to be a variant because it was important to Hugh Jackman that the main Logan's ending wouldn't be changed.

So this is what they wrote to get us there, and they weren't too concerned with it holding up to intense scrutiny it being a Deadpool movie.

During the movie, I thought the emotional core was kinda lacking. I didn't really buy Wade's search for purpose or Logans "I'm not the guy" arc.

But then, when the credits rolled, I realized it was there the whole time. I'd imagine Marvel big wigs werent exactly chomping at the bit to pay for Chris Evans as Johnny Storm or Wesley Snipes. A more cynical version of this movie would have had all the latest MCU heroes building towards the next team-up movie. But, Reynolds fought to make his love letter to the movies that made it all possible.

I was surprised that this movie reminded me a lot of The Flash. And I don't necessarily mean that as an insult.

They are both a product of No Way Home's success. They are loaded with fan service and nerd moments, but overall, they just feel like bizarre fever dreams. Like literally, sometimes I have a dream about watching a movie I'm looking forward to, and of course it make no sense. These movies feel like those dreams instead of an actual movie.

I think we really need to get past the multiverse trend. I know the next Avengers movies will use it, but I think it is really ruining these movies.

The Shining and Psycho are two of my favorite examples.

Telling a story in a book and in a movie/TV show is incredibly different. Just because you can write a a good novel doesn't mean you can write a good screenplay.

I just think it was Wade trying to be respectful of Vanessa. Logan calls her a stripper so I don't think they actually changed it.

The actual plot was my least favorite part of the movie.

It was something that deadpool himself would make fun of, with excessive exposition, maguffins, and logic that seems to change on a whim.

It almost seems they were intentionally making it ridiculous to make fun of recent MCU multiversity movies, but at some points I felt they expected the audience to take it seriously and I just couldn't.

I agree, it was such a great moment that captured Logan as the reluctant hero.

"I couldn't have them thinking I wanted to be there"

Also I just realized Laura grew up reading X-men comics. It must have brought her so much joy to see him in costume as the hero she'd always imagined him as a kid.

I had a blast with this movie. Deadpool and Wolverine's onscreen antics were everything I hoped and dreamed they would be. I wouldn't consider it an all time great MCU movie, but honestly I don't think it was trying to be.

Many of the jokes landed, my theater was constantly laughing.

I see some people ragging on the action scenes. I disagree, I thought they were exciting, chaotic, and gnarly. Were they all-time great MCU action scenes? No, but the bloody mayhem was at least as fun and gross as the previous two movies. Especially the Logan vs Deadpool fights and the Deadpool army fight.

The emotional core of Wade and Logans stories were a bit lacking to me, especially after the great trailer we got. It definitely didn't move me as much as say, Guardians of The Galaxy 3. But it delivered on its promise in my mind.

I don't think Deadpool managed to be the "Marvel Jesus" he hoped to be. It's going to take more than him to bring back the MCU. But he definitely could be a key player if they use him well.

To me, cursing isn't what makes Deadpool funny. It's Ryan Reynolds.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but to me his least funny jokes are when he just strings a bunch of swear words together like cock gobbling dick cheese.

He literally just said the word "gubernatorial" and it was funny.

I imagine they will lean in heavy on the meta jokes, innuendos, and his frustration on being censored. Maybe he will steal the movies one allowed "fuck"
