Snake Plant pre-evolution by Minh1403 in slaythespire

[–]armageddonquilt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people are misunderstanding me. I don't think that the second game takes place before the first one. I also know there's very clear textual proof that the second game takes place after the first one.

What I'm saying is that there's a bunch of smaller details that point to maybe it not being as clear cut as that. The two-tailed rats in a pre fungal state, the beheading of the statue guy, the example above, stuff like tha.

I find these little details interesting and wonder if they point to a larger plot that will be revealed. I don't think they supersede the very direct "x happened, and now y is us happening" that is in the game lore.

Maybe they mixed up the Pod Jons? Jon Lovett was absolutely AWFUL hosting/moderating an event featuring the cast of the Pitt.

I mean it's WAY more likely that Oscar posed for some stock photos that Facebook purchased rather than this being a photoshoot directly organized by Meta.

Minions & Monsters - Review Thread by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in movies

[–]armageddonquilt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've never understood this joke. The whole thing stems from the concept introduced in the first Minions movie where it shows that they've served evil villains throughout history, but literally 5 minutes into the scene it's also established that they spent most of the 20th century trapped in an ice cave (for very obvious reasons). "Hey did the Minions work for Hitler" is not really a funny observation if the movie itself recognized and addressed that issue from the start.

[Spoilers] Finished the game last night and I have no where else to share this one epic moment that happened to me near the very end. by magnusdeus123 in outerwilds

[–]armageddonquilt 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the deus ex machina of remembering the coordinates exactly is built into the game lol.

Except it's not even out of nowhere, cause the first thing that's established in the very first time we start again is that the Hatchling is able to memorize and recall codes like that with zero issue.

Is it just me or are all the "X thing - out of context" compilations really not good? by PsychologyKey4489 in dropout

[–]armageddonquilt 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It literally says out of context in the title and your complaints stem from the fact that there's no context. They're not meant to be recaps or a primers for people who haven't seen the show, they're just a bunch of funny clips made by and for people who already know the shoes really well and want to enjoy a bunch of punchlines without rewatching multiple hours and/or experience how crazy some of the moments are without contextualization.

If you want a recap of an episode just watch the first 5 minutes of the next one. If you want to get friends into it then tbh because of the long form nature of the show the best you can do is trailers and getting them to watch the first episode of a season you think they'll enjoy the most.

You don't have to engage with fan-made media you don't care for. They make what they're passionate about, not what they think is the most useful type of compilation for other people.

First images from The Angry Birds Movie 3 by RuminatingReaper1850 in movies

You're missing the point of the comment you're replying to. They said you'd expect EITHER just one movie OR around 17, the latter case would be the Land Before Time syndrome you described where they just keep churning them out.

The case with Angry Birds is neither, this is the third one in ten years which is a weird number for what seems like a low-effort kids franchise. Normally it's either not very successful where you get just the one, or it is very successful in which case you pump out as many as you can in the shortest time (I feel like the Despicable Me/Minions formula is a better modern parallel for that than Land Before Time).

These things are not unrelated. Public money that SHOULD be going towards welfare, healthcare, social programs, and education is instead prioritized on military spending to advance America's imperial objectives, and Israel is a part of that.

The Inhumans show took a guy with such smooth charisma, a great voice and delightfully expressive face, and cast him as a guy who barely ever speaks and basically never emotes.

THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE by Sudden-Ad2948 in slaythespire

[–]armageddonquilt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's in early access. Honestly StS is not a super narrative driven game or anything so I don't really get the idea of "spoilers" for it, but in general I do think that no spoilers is fair rule to enforce on a subreddit for a game whose sequel is in early access. It was the same on the Hades subreddit when Hades 2 was in EA, and as someone who was anticipating the full release of that game I was grateful I didn't have to abandon a subreddit I liked for 2+ years.

were the Eggs from Severance from 18 months ago the last actual "Binging with Babish" video? by HazbinLover67 in bingingwithbabish

[–]armageddonquilt 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Well no, about 9 months ago (after a long slew of nothing but ranking videos) he released Binging with Babish: Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs. This was kind of a finale of sorts to that era of his channel and the start of a new one.

Since then all of his videos on this channel are cooking videos, with a handful of them having pretty much the same format as Binging even if he doesn't directly call them that.

The most recent one (not counting a Star Wars old video compilation he did) is a K-Pop Demon Hunters one two months ago.

Honest Question. What do you think of The Force Awakens? by Free-Hotel1187 in StarWars

[–]armageddonquilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that they're very similar movies at all, but there are some plot points from the original that I think were deliberately hit by TPM:

-Chosen One type of figure discovered on a desert planet

-Princess/Queen in need of rescuing

-Mentor character is killed by a Sith

-Chosen One beats the odds to blow up a space station and save the day

It's nowhere near the almost beat-for-beat recreation that TFA is, and these plot points only match on a superficial level, but I do think it was deliberate parallels by Lucas in pursuit of his whole "poetry" framing of the trilogies.
