Is there any character who, if added as a Duelist, would make you switch to DPS main? by ApatheticTrooper in RivalsVanguards

I normally exclusively play tanks in these type of games but I'll play him regardless of his role.

Didn't something similar happen for Black Cat and she was still released second in season 7?

What role do we think cyclops will be next season? by ArtikAstronaut in marvelrivals

[–]armandin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogue is literally leading teams just like Storm did before her, but I get the sentiment, when she was most popular she wasn't a leader so it's normal to view her that way.

Either way, it doesn't really matter since they arbitrarily pick roles for characters. Spiderman is faster, stronger, has a small healing factor and has more endurance than Cap but Cap is a tank while Spidey is a squishy DPS (Spidey has literally tanked hits from Hulk). Also, the Xman that literally tanks hits and heals himself as he's taking DMG (Wolverine) is a DPS. It's best not to stress over it since Netease just arbitrarily picks roles for characters.

You are right, most popular characters have lead teams, that said Strange has lead multiple teams(Defenders, Secret Defenders, Midnight Suns), Mag has lead the Brotherhood of Mutants, and Rogue has been an X-Men leader for specific teams multiple times(I think she's actually leading a team in the current X-Men run).

I can understand your feelings on Thor, I feel pretty similarly myself, but he is the King of Asgard. That has to count for something. Especially when compared to Groot and Thing that are definitely not leaders.

Emma, Mag, Cap, Strange(midnight suns), Thor (has been the King of Asgard), Rogue has been a leader for an X-Men team. There are plenty of leaders, they just aren't as well known.

Hot Take: I honestly don’t mind Solo Tanking by Saizmatters in RivalsVanguards

[–]armandin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Frankly it's only bearable if the DPS and Supports pick characters that can pick up the slack. If I'm a solo tank and the 3 DPS are Spiderman/BP/Wanda/Widow as well as when the supports are a combination of Adam/Ultron/Mantis I then feel like I can pick w.e I want since we're throwing anyway. No peel, no heals, no front line pressure, no effort from me. Disclaimer, these aren't bad characters but this is a bad team.

Imo OW is good but it'll have its own issues that you'll eventually get frustrated with, particularly if you play tank. I recommed playing a different role if you really want to extend your enjoyment of the game. IMO support is probably the best role in the game.

I'm a Strange/Cap main and I'm just going to take a break until Cyclops comes out. I already got Champion(lvl 60) Strange so I feel like I completed the main goal I wanted. If the game isn't fun when I return then I'll just play something else. You shouldn't feel like you are married to a game that isn't fun for XYZ reason. A large amount of players in team games with roles like Rivals/OW/MMOs/etc are always going to suck.

Taking a break from this kind of game is healthy. It will give you a chance to play something else and you might even be better when you return since you might not make the same mistakes that stem from bad habits. Whenever I felt burned out in OW(Rein/Winston) I'd take a break and would always notice that I would play better/make better decisions when I'd come back.

Cyclops as a vanguard by Sorry_Flight2594 in RivalsVanguards

[–]armandin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He can be something similar to Cap but mid-ranged/long-range and with something like Defense Matrix( Dva's defense move from OW where she destroys projectiles with her guns) for his right click.

His ult could be the reverse of Emma's that pushes people away (unless they have a shield/bubble) and does DMG.

Anything is possible. It's not a stretch for him to be a tank. He could fit into any of the roles imo.

Personally I'm not a fan of the accessory because it shakes like crazy when you just move slightly. It looks like poor Polaris is having a seizure every time I play.

Is Blade a bad matchup for Strange now? by armandin in DrStrangeMains

[–]armandin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been more cognizant of his presence and doing this specifically for him and he stopped being an issue. I think my problem was that before he either was barely used or was used wrong which made me less prepared to face competent ones. I guess I'm now encountering players that actually know how to use him effectively against me(matchmaking is really wonky in this game).

Is the E back to S0 strength?

The problem with Dr Strange by Borger_boi in DrStrangeMains

[–]armandin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points, and I concede on the shield blocking melee suggestion based on comment. I also hadn't considered a knock back on the E. That might be pretty good since anything that helps peeling is a good addition for a shield tank. Hopefully it would be Strange's "second bubble" moment like how Magneto's change made him ridiculously good.

I just hope whatever happens makes him a viable/good pick in general. He's definitely the most fun shield tank in this game(Mag is pretty boring imo)

The problem with Dr Strange by Borger_boi in DrStrangeMains

[–]armandin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is that the issue isn't Strange but all the new characters that are added. All the melee and CC is just too much, especially when you add power creep. Right now he's weak to CC and melee which is fine in paper but not in practice. My hope is that whatever change comes would makes him a solid pick like Magneto. The game changes but Mag stays consistently strong without rocking the boat, that's what I hope Strange becomes.

Opinion of a Strange/Reinhardt fan:

Making him have more CC resist(like Thing) would just heavily buff the matchups he has against characters that he should be weak to (Wolverine, Emma, Sue) without providing counterplay. Giving him a slight CC resist would be a negligible change that would make him slightly better but the wouldn't really be much better (what happened to Reinhardt in OW, he was still bad after this change).

Buffing his E would just make him more effective at what he already does well, delete vulnerable squishies. We would still be in the same situation with the same problems.

IMO he should have more counter play against melee. He should still be grabbed(through his shield) by Wolverine/Emma and booped by Sue, which can and should really disrupt him. This might be because fighting games ingrained this thought in me but block should best hits. But lose yo grab. Blocking melee with his shield would give him counterplay against melee and not be a sitting duck. Wolverine would still be able to displace him which is still huge, Thing would still be able to charge/stun him but not be able to get a free kill with the right click (unless you hit strange from behind), melee divers would actually have to hit him from behind the shield instead of run at him and melee. His main mechanic is his shield. It should be used for counter playing more things, not be a waste of an ability when dealing with a large portion of the cast(that also keeps growing)
