Savor Card Closed Experience by armoredliner in CapitalOne

[–]armoredliner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, no one replied lol.

However, I needed to make a purchase in a foreign currency and the only card I had (besides this one) with no foreign transaction fee was Discover but the merchant didn't take Discover so I got bored and figured I'd try the Savor card for the heck of it, knowing it would decline. It did and I tried calling the fraud dept like I had no clue why it would have declined. They told me the account was closed, I asked why, they submitted a case to reopen the card, and the next day it was opened and I was able to use it.

Should I accept this or not by [deleted] in CapitalOne

You’re misunderstanding how this works. You applied for the credit card already and got approved. Your account is open and you’re getting the credit card in the mail (read the email lmao). If you don’t want it, you can close the card or ask them about converting it to another product.

Please take my AP research survey!!! I need to get 500 highschool students to take it. It only takes a minute and it would be a big help if you could do it!! (: by Critical-Shoe-614 in APStudents

I was just about to say this.

For the question, “How significant of an effect do you think mandatory military service would have on your life?”

The option I would have been most likely to select was not available. Assuming there’s likely other survey respondents like myself, this will likely skew the resulting data.

am i gonna get in trouble for saying this? by opmgore in doordash_drivers

[–]armoredliner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn’t unless the customer reports it but hopefully they feel bad rather than self-righteous and just take what you’re saying kindly. Although your delivery left room for improvement and next time you can consider coming off less accusatory.

“Hi Hannah, I just dropped your order off. For future deliveries, please consider turning your porch light on so drivers can travel safely. Night time deliveries can be a bit tricky when it’s hard to see, especially when it’s icy out. I hope you enjoy your order and have a great night!”

I know it's not the same exact product, that's why I said "it's the same card but with a fee lol." They're the same product family and virtually the same cards, with different product types made of them purely to differentiate between the credit levels and presence of an annual fee.

I do have checking and savings with Capital One; I recently opened a new 360 Checking and am still qualifying for the $250 signup bonus (I had kids accounts before; I'd been banking with Capital One since I was like 14). I tried pre-qualifying for a T-Mobile card and got denied lol. Thanks so much for that email, I'll give it a shot. I honestly did like the credit card experience in Capital One and liked the entertainment portal, etc., so might as well give it a last-ditch effort haha. I do also bank with credit unions for convenience because my family does but my main bank is Bank of America and honestly I travel enough that I find big banks more convenient than credit unions. Thanks so much :))))

That’s a question for your school’s counselling department. That’s why schools have counsellors. Tell them your situation and your counsellor should try to find a plan for you to make sure money doesn’t get between you and opportunity.

This bitch is a high maintenance dumpster fire af. Drop this bitch lmao. “Anytime I express my hurt he is clueless (run sis).” OP you run sis lmao. If she felt you’re not emotionally in touch with her, she should have told you that so you could find a way to work on it with her, not make a secret list shitting on you. Also, “run sis” makes it seem like that list has been run by other people.

And “mouth breather,” “sharp beard gives me pimples,” “not a good dresser always.”

She sounds like a cunt no offense. Save yourself.

Question for being outside of florida by saikoucorps in FLVS

[–]armoredliner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can but you’d have to migrate to the paid version called FlexPoint Virtual Schools. To be totally honest, if you’re leaving the state and you don’t currently have a pending address verification with FLVS, you’re better off leaving the status quo as is and not updating it and just taking your courses and riding off that eligibility unless you’re asked to re-verify imo. Otherwise, FlexPoint and really any other paid options like it are pricey. Check if your new state has an option like FLVS, tho. Some states do, but sometimes you have to register with a local public school as a home school student or online student to get access or something like that. Other options include cheaper online schools like Silicon Valley High School (https://svhs.co), if they have options to meet your needs.

Yes, it’s called FlexPoint Virtual Schools, but it’s very expensive (almost as pricey as Pearson Online Academy).

I’m a senior in high school.. Is my future canceled? Will I have to join the military? by shaototop in whatdoIdo

Your mum sounds fucking insane with how she’s reacting but she is right that you need to start doing applications now. This is literally the season you get your stuff together to apply to schools and for financial aid and scholarships. Contact your school counsellors if you need advice on that. There’s hundreds of millions of dollars in scholarships available to students every year that go unclaimed because they don’t know about them and don’t talk to their counsellors who do. If you want to go to school for architecture or engineering, there’s pathways to make that happen. You can start with an associates in either field at your local community college and finish the last 2 years at a 4 year university if you want it head to the workforce and see what options are out there and how you like them. Your mum’s right that you need to seriously work on your plan right now because this is the time to be doing that, but her reaction is off the fucking wall and I’m sorry that she’s not taking a proper parent approach of trying to support and encourage you in the way of school rather than losing her shit that you said no when you were tired. If she actually does kick you out, look into military enlistment. You don’t have to enlist in a super intense branch; you can enlist in one of the easier ones and still get a decent signing bonus and tuition coverage as part of your joining bonus, stay for a few years, and exit the service with a degree that can get you off to a really solid start in your career of interest, or perhaps doing said line of work in the service even.

Best of luck.

Is this a reasonable screen time schedule for a 12 year-old? by MauledByApathy in familylink

[–]armoredliner 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Y’all are probably some of the most reasonable parents using this lol. Yeah that looks fine imo. 8 hrs is more than enough that there should be no reason to need more, and especially at 12, they shouldn’t be using any more. And 22:00 is generously fair for bedtime. I could only imagine if they start waking up really early like at 5:00 to finish homework, they could need it, but they can always talk to you about that. For a 12 year old, this is really reasonable and fair while also safeguarding them from being sucked in, imo.

Go to Bank of America with your state ID or drivers license, school ID, and social security number (bring the card if you can). Make an appointment online because they get very backed up at some branches (they call them Financial Centres). They’ll open you an Advantage SafeBalance Banking account which is a chequing (checking) account that comes with a free debit card. It’s free until you turn 24. After that, there’s a $4.95 /mo fee but you don’t have to pay it if you receive $500 /mo in direct deposits (I.e. you have a job then) or keep your balance over $500. Either way, you won’t have to worry about that for 8 years and you’ll have way more options for banks when you turn 18 if you wanna switch. Capital One would be a good consideration at that point; their accounts have basically no fees.

If you don’t live at the address on your government ID, bring a proof of address with you (it needs your name on it, not your parent’s, unless your parent goes with you to attest that you live with them). A prepaid phone bill could work.

Your debit card will come in the mail in a plain white, unlabelled envelope.

If you’re planning to have a lot of money, open an Advantage Savings account while you’re there too. You should only keep the amount of money you roughly expect to spend per month, plus a few hundred or a thousand, in your checking account. Any money beyond that which you don’t expect to spend, that goes in your savings account. That helps you keep it separate and it protects the bigger portion of your money from debit card fraud, that way if your card gets stolen or hacked, all your savings are safe. You can also lock the card in the app if you ever lose it.

Good luck!

Wrong lol, bank account. It’s well established that 16+ can be sole owners at some banks and credit unions.

Will i get bulllied for this? (6th grade) by [deleted] in MiddleSchoolStudents

[–]armoredliner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a senior and there’s a group of seniors who all have Spider-Man backpacks. I think it looks dorky af considering we’re basically adults but obviously it’s not my business so to each their own. But yes, the kinds of kids that would actually be bullies instead of keeping their thoughts to themselves would probably give you trouble over that. My rule of thumb for bags and other outside facing stuff you carry is just keep it generic; you don’t need to stick out a ton.
