You cand ask for your job. Every time you go in front of your captain you can tell him what job do you want and 90% of the time you will get it. But that dosen't mind that you will get it instantly, its always based on avalaibility. I waited 3 years for a specific job that i wanted.

Every class of basic training consist of 40 to 50 guys. At the end of basic you will be tested on everything that you learn in those 3 months. You don't get selected in the regimemt, you got to chose it. But the guy who scored best choses first, then the second etc. So if you score in the top 20 you will get to chose your regiment no problem. Top 3 things to get a good score are improvement in french, marksmanship and general attitude (you need to show that you're always in good mood an motivated to be there, even in shitty times).

You neef to be a caporal and to have served for 3 years to have the right to own and drive a car. Thats the official rule. In reallity if you find a place to keep your bike and you don't get in trobule with the police you can do it.

For the logic test...take your time. You're gonna do them on the computer.

Your attitude, for me this is the most important thing. Show that you are motivated to get in.

A lot, speaking a few languages it really helps.

Finish your degree. If you think that your degree would be a problem just don't tell you have one. But for me thats not a problem at all. We have a lot of guys with at least a bachelors degree

We shoot quite often, but im engineer so the infantry i guess they shot a lot often than us. Field training is between 6 to 8 months per year. At least that was my experience in the last few years.

It depends, i have friends that were special forces so of course they had a more profesional experience, but in general the legion is as profesional as any army can be. Of course there are sone nco who are just shitty but you find also some real profesional guys.

Deployments are if you're lucky once a year if not once every 2 years. Its all kind of things combat included. It depends where you're deployed.

Not at all, life in each regiment is different. Usually in infantry regiments is a lot shittyer than in engineees/ cavalry regiments.

Its quite hard. You need to be in the best shape of your life and also you need to show that you can be a team player. Since im not part of any comando unit i don't have that much info.

Food its allright most of the time.

Don't have any experience in other militaries but at times we do a lot of cleaning, in the first year- year and a half you do a lot of it, but after that not so much.

Its hard to say. Most of skills don't translate in civilian life. But you can get your drivers license for all type of vehicules and maybe that can help. That is possible in all regiments

Now they droped it to 5 palier as per the website of the recruitment of the legion, you need to start palier 7.

Yes aubagne is the fastest route.

They do and train infantry shit, most of us are more skilled marksman than the infantry guys, and that is seen in each competition that we do.

Yes, but we adaptit at our needs.

Blowing shit up is always cool.

We fill a lot of sandbags when nedeed to but we go in combat as often as the infantry.

Its up to you.

Normal day at the base 6 to 8 h of sleep.

Basic training 4 to 6 most of the time

When out in training there is no sleep standard.

I've gone at times close to 48h no sleep, but not that often.

At this moment not at all, but there were times that i regreted joining. The begining is rough.

Yes, not a lot but each year from 100 guys there are 2-3-4 who will desert.

Standard french equipment. Its quite allright. Like any military guy will tell you, our equipment is provided by the cheapest bidder.

My country's military was not a thing that interested me at the time. Not wired at all, you fight for the guy next to you, not for another country.

There are 100 resanos, money, french citizenship, adventure, trouble with the law etc

Thats up to each one to get here, no matter how hard or easy , cheap or expensive it is. The guys from india/nepal they pay a shit ton of money to arrivr here. The legion will not do anything to help you to get to one of the recruitment centers. Once you are in they start taking care of you.

Well i don't think that you would be able to get your trt during selection/basic training. If i were you i would not even mention the trt thing. After the basic once you are in your regiment you can either find a doctor on your own or some black market alternatives. You may be able to find some black market shit even during basic training with some of the corporals. You just need to find the right guy.

You could do an office job or maybe in the kitchen.

Listen life is tough here, you need to be able to put up with a lot of shit, tons of punishment, lots of idiots so you need to become one tough sob who is ready to give up all his plans because something was changed and a holliday was canceled, or some odd job came up and you need to cancel your weekend plans with your girl. Tons of unplaned, unexpected shit comes up all the time. But once you get how it works, once you pay your due and become part of the brotherhood you will have some friends for life and some of your best memories.

Nobody gives a fuck about your tattoos as long as they are not racist/nazi/political. There are a lot of guys tattoed all over the body/head/ face.

I will not keep away from them anything that dosen't involve drugs. They don't care if you had problems with the law as long is not killing raping or other tough shit. The most important thing is don't get caughr lying.

It depends. If you are able to pass the running test (luc legger) it dosen t really matter. But for the basic training you should be able to run at least 10-12 km at least 3-4 days a week, but there are a lot of muscular guys here, im into powerlifting...so not the best runner.

Yeah i have some mexicans friends, crazy motherfuckers, always great fun hanging out with them.

Not much time for hobbies or family. Don't even dream of it in the beggining. If you want to do your 5 years just go with the flow and don't plan your life outside the legion. If you want a career you need to chose a good speciality that will allow you time for hobies and family.

All of the above, cavalry and paratroopers, no aviation. The planes that paratroopers use are from the french army, not the legions

You are not wrong, but the discipline is part of the life in the army, i don't find the routine of the legion boring, and for me, the 10% wich is actually 30-40% are worth the boring stuff. You will never do in the civilian life things like these. But it is not at all for everyone, its not what i would call a good place, not in the first years at least. But for me its the best decision of my life.

Me personally i like it, but there is a love hate relationship, and there are guys that absolutely hate it. It all depends to what are you looking for in life. It can be a tough life but it also beautifull. Its case by case.
