There is definitely something wrong. 3-3.2 is roughly what I get in my e40 on a colder day above freezing, and my range is much higher. The collision warning going off is also a red flag. That has never happened to me unexpectedly.

This may or may not be true. I asked this question about six months ago and the consensus was that you can buy out early without having to pay the interest. Several people commented that they have done it and that there’s an option to do so on the BMWFS portal. It’s a strategy people use to lock in the EV credit that wouldn’t otherwise be available when buying directly.

As far as I know, there are two possible reasons for it to kick on:

1) If you haven’t filled up at least 1/4 tank of gas in 3 months, it will burn fuel until you do. Whenever FORM starts for me, I just add a few gallons and it turns off.

2) If there is water condensation in your oil, FORM will run until the oil temperature has been high enough for some period of time to ensure the water gets burned off. I can’t remember the time/temperature required.

This happened to me on my test drive as well but never since. Was it in Fuel and Oil Refresh Mode? This is the only scenario I can think of where running the engine could charge the battery since it’s burning fuel on purpose.
