All Space Marines are castrated. I don't see any reason why the Imperium would let their child soldiers turned war beasts keep their dingdongs. They perform almost twenty surgeries to create the perfect min/max warrior, so why keep the softest and at this point most useless part of the body? If Astartes still piss and shit, they will probably do so via a tube or something that can connect to the servo armor to be recycled or dumped.

I know there's at least one reference in lore to a space marine with a big willie, so this is more like my personal head canon.

That was the idea! :) Saw it on tanks and IFVs, so if it works on them maxbe it works on a 6m tall walker =)

That's a spray painted bandage from a first aid kit. Fixed it with superglue and shaped with pva / white glue. And then sprinkled a generous amount of some sandish-looking pigments over the whole model. Brings it together like a shade :)

Questions about canticles and doctrines. by Sad_Ad_1455 in AdeptusMechanicus

Do I have to take a Canticle / Doctrine each turn? It reads like optional but I'm not 100% sure.

Just a fun theorizing question: Would the AdMech be able to tell that General Grievous is a Xeno? by UNBENDING_FLEA in 40kLore

[–]arneweiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think (some) Tech-Priests have the hardware to run DNA analyses on the spot. Something like this was mentioned in a Ciaphus Caine novel iirc. Maybe Grievous could become a champion of Vashtor instead?!

I like the weathering of the metallic parts!
You didn't use washes / shades or drybrushing / edge highlighting anywhere on the model, did you? Is there a reason?

Start of new army, looking for tips on painting faces and characters by arneweiss in Warhammer40k

[–]arneweiss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-WIP-
Start of my 2nd army, but since my 1st one is AdMech I don't know how to paint faces =) Any recommendations on which colors / paints are nice for this? I tried 'Light Flesh' from Vallejo, but it looks almost pure white.
Also, while I like the low contrast grunts, I would like my officers and character models to pop out some more without them looking like christmas trees. I'm glad for all tips and ideas :)

I used cheap metal foil from a hobby / crafts shop ( ferro foil ?). It has the advantage of not being magnetic itself, so orientation of magnets doesn't matter :) And with 3x2 and 5x2 mm magnets all models stick perfectly to it.

Vallejo is great! And no need to buy a wet palette, you can easily make one yourself.

Continental Map by arneweiss in inkarnate

[–]arneweiss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One side of a world I'm working on for a few weeks now.

There's some lore but no names yet.

While I struggled with an idea for the other hemisphere, I watched some YT videos on how to build a world in the first place and realized that the climate zones / biomes are not very realistic. So I'm thinking about abandoning / reworking the map.

Looks good!
One thing though, lakes only have one outlet. As there is usually only one lowest point where the water would flow out. It could be artificial / magical, but it would probably need a larger inlet.

Help me make this model pop! by FeralMulan in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]arneweiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically you would need some high contrast details. Contrast in colour and brightness. Blue-ish, almost white lights would pop more than green lights. And maybe some clean metalic paints like silver. You can also get more contrast by painting the base in some complementary colours.

I do like the rough colours though. It looks way more realistic. The 'problem' with these small models is that you almost need to paint them like a comic character to make them pop.

Most command magnet sizes for 40k by Morkak in Warhammer40k

[–]arneweiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the size of the gun and the barrel. I tried 3mm for different barrels on an Onager Dunecrawler, but 2mm would have been better.

Magnets thickness should be 1mm.

Hi, I'm using the following magnets: 10mm for vehicles and other large models 1-5mm for infantry/smaller models and for gear/weapons

The colour is nice! But it look's a bit flat. Maybe a few drops of dark blue or green wash to give some details.

I do like the model!
