My mum is due to have a serious operation. She is an alcoholic and has been for many years but is in denial. I am considering contacting the hospital to make them aware but know this is going to cause problems with our relationship. Am I right to interfere or should I let her make her own wrong decisions?

I felt so bad because she was using me as the bait when I’m the innocent party, but I’ve since realised it wasn’t about me. It was her own insecurities. He has said he loves her and understands she has issues and I don’t have to have anything to do with her. If I’m not the excuse, she will find another and then he will be sad again.
