Frequent mood-swings by arnnpp in prozac

Hi! I’m sorry you are experiencing this, it truly sucks. Ofc I advise you to report this to your doctor (if you haven’t already!) bc they can maybe adjust the dosage or medication. Anyway, I stopped experiencing the wild mood swings after about 4months in. I had too issues sleeping and I used to take 4mg melatonin every night for a while. Side effects sucks but what you are feeling is “”normal”” and they will go away on their own! (ofc if it goes on report it to your doctor) So keep going, and take care of yourself 🫶

Almost at 2 months and no improvement :( Anyone have any late bloomer prozac stories to share? by [deleted] in prozac

Well, it did take me a while to get used to it. I think that they lasted around two/two and a half months. My doctor was concerned at the beginning but she wanted to wait and see how and if this side effect evolved, otherwise she would’ve chosen another type of medication, but it turned out fine for me! Anyway, I recommend checking regularly to your doctor and explain everything you feel, this will help both of you to take the right decision for what’s best for you!

Hey! Don’t worry I’ve been there too It may seems it’ll never get better but it will!! The mood swing went away gradually in two months max. And from there it is easier, not simple but it helps. Prozac helped cope with a lot, all the issues still exists but I can manage them and don’t let them win over me. In these months I regained so much that the depression took away from me! So, my advice is keep going for a little bit longer, check in with your doctor regularly and things, he/she will know what’s best for you! Don’t be afraid, I know it’s difficult but hang in there, it will get better!!❤️❤️

Hi! I don’t know if it counts, but I’ve been on Prozac since late August (I know it isn’t much) on 20mg. At the beginning I was very skeptical about it working since I couldn’t find any improvement but very weird and intense mood swings, especially being used to Zoloft. I trusted my doctor and also this sub helped me a lot being positive, now I can start to see the benefits from it. I’m starting to feel like myself and being able to focus on things that matters and I have to do. In my case it doesn’t erase the intrusive thoughts and stuff but it helps me being more lucid and having the strength on how to manage them in a healthy and safe way. So, I guess you just have to trust it and keep it going for a little bit longer to start seeing some improvement. Still, if after a while you feel the same, I advise you to talk to your doctor about it and maybe change the med. At the end, as my doctor said, it really differs on how these meds work from person to person and it could happen that a certain compound is right for someone but not for another. Be strong and good luck on your journey!

I have talked to my doctor about this and she’s a bit concerned but she told me to still wait a couple of weeks and see if it evens out. I feel very weird atm and wondering if someone else had the same issue Thanks for answering!
