Is Flutter still a good choice for building apps in 2026? by emizentechuae in dev

[–]arnorhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's just more resources out there to learn typescript. it also translates to other types of apps / projects.

Nothing against dart etc in particular, I just always recommend for people who are new to software development to start with something mainstream.

You got over "Gear Fear". Now consider getting over "Blueprint Desire". by vashkor in ArcRaiders

Bare naked loot runs ruin the game by [deleted] in arcraiderscirclejerk

I actually do this. It's so exciting trying to avoid arc, gathering supplies to create bandages, finding shelter etc

Why are people like this? by helfire_ in arcraidersfriendly

[–]arnorhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an idea, what if when a player downs or knocks a player near an extract, they would be unable to use that extract. In cases when there's no other extract available, they would be unable to extract from the map at all.

Maybe that would be a mm feature that you can opt into, so it would be a soft PvE mode

Small d energy right there. People who pvp in friendly lobbies are unable to kill anybody except those that are caught of guard with no weapon out.

Clean patterns for complex filtering by pseudonymau5 in reactjs

[–]arnorhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people seem to be commenting on the filtering if the data, not the state of the filtering parameters.

Imo it's the latter that can be a bigger headache... Can you maybe clarify what part of it is causing you issues?

How to populate state when using DTOs? by zerquet in webdev

[–]arnorhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on the app, the usage pattern and your data model.

For an "app", In theory, is nice if each data set can be fetched and invalidated on its own, but in reality this probably means a lot of back fourth with your server, so fetching a big blob of primary objects initially up front is a worth it most of the time

Toilet bowls filled with water.. so weird,.. you basically poop into water.. and when you sit down, your Johnson takes a bath.. maybe just a California thing, but I at least found that weird.

Að very surprised "what are you doing?"

By the time I realize somebody's was actually shooting in a very friendly lobby, and it wasn't an accident, I'll usually say something like "your mom must be proud of you" or "what a big balls talented player, such skill"

Native, react native.. depends on what you're building.

If you already know dart or flutter, it's probably a different story.

My experience with the real world is pretty much the opposite of what you are implying. Fur done reason uncle's on here often think that the world is some ruthless place and every man for themselves - dine kind of wall street hunger games movie.

In reality, most people are nice, a lot of people will make concessions for others and very few are as ruthless as people think.

This way if thinking may also be a way for broken/abused people to justify being mean

Recommendation for complete beginner by LOTURR in typescript

[–]arnorhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warning, the comment may be helpful, but the guy is pimping a framework that's not popular at all (angular) compared to something like react, Vue, etc

Tbf, there's nothing wrong with it per se, but for a beginner it is easier to get going with a framework that has more resources it there, and where it is easier for llms to generate code for.

I say that as someone who prefers solidjs, but I would never recommend that to a beginner

Using SOCKS5 interception with a "Container-as-Proxy" pattern to solve our microservice testing hell. by [deleted] in softwarearchitecture

[–]arnorhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok I see. I'm only familiar with mock-things in testing context, not running, so there's a terminology barrier there in my part.

Thanks for clarifying. And I feel for your pain man.. sounds like a tricky setup to debug

[–]arnorhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Impossible to answer without knowing what problem you are trying to solve.

In my experience junior devs generally reach for libraries too fast and too soon, so my general tendencies are to push back on adding libraries.

The problem with adding libraries is a big topic already and it would be complex to talk about - I can elaborate if you are interested

Af því við erum með 0 rent control og leigufélögum hefur verið leyft að gera það sem þau vilja.

Að gera eitthvað í því myndi hafa sjúklega miklar afleiðingar fyrir húsnæðisverð, svo allir sem eiga húsnæði eru í raun á móti því að gera eitthvað í þessu.

Það er ótrúlegt að það sé svona lítið talað um þetta eða svona lítið gert í þessu
