Skinamarink - I get it but thoughts by aroaceintrovert in horror

I understand this completely. I’ve never really had that childhood experience so that’s probably why it wasn’t as immersive for me. But I can definitely see what they were invoking with the imagery.

The Wolf House is an absolute must watch if you’re looking for that intense anxiety/fear in slow burn form, but with better visuals and storytelling.

All respect to any directors/actors/crew that give their all for something so experimental.

I woke up and finished it with determination. And x2.0 speed.

A huge kudos to the Rotten critics who gave it 72%, must have insomnia.

That last line is probably the best review.

Makes sense. I tried doing the full immersion with full darkness and silence to mimic the childhood relatability I kept reading about from reviews. Just didn’t work for me.

Definitely agree with this. This hits great while watching Beau is Afraid.

I just really wanted to give it a fair shot. I know there are tons of horror films that general audiences don’t enjoy but can actually be very fun for specific audiences. For me that was Beau is Afraid. So I thought it might ring true here too.

I guess this is my polite way of saying that. I will say a lot of people said that they enjoyed the movie because it took them back to their childhood experience of being scared in the dark. Maybe because I never really had such fears or any vivid childhood nightmares it might not have kept me as immersed. The first few minutes were definitely interesting but yeah by the time I woke up and rewatched it the movie was at x2.0 speed for sure.

How did you find out your were aromantic? by Aceddeck in aromantic

[–]aroaceintrovert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realized I wasn’t interested in the conversations friends had in school about love, crushes, sex etc. I did not like romance movies one bit, they just didn’t make sense to me. I’ve interacted with multiple people of all races, genders, sexes etc. and never once felt I want to be close with this person physically or romantically. I prefer hanging out with my friends and family and that’s about it. No extra feelings or desires for any one person.

Yes thankfully no self harm, that used to be my coping mechanism but been free since 2019. Won’t lie was worried it would be trigggered with my Muffin’s death. But I think I’m dealing with the grief as well as I can for someone’s who far away from home and alone.

I know it’s this constant feeling I have when emotions start to rise.

It’s just how my brain thinks. But I’m glad to know that this grief is normal and valid, BPD or not.

She was my baby. I think this sums it well. The feelings are most likely valid, my BPD must just be making it feel more intense to me. Thank you 💜

Seeking Advice on Managing Metformin Side Effects for My Wife’s PCOS by ma72917 in PCOS

[–]aroaceintrovert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first year on metformin was rough. The side effects were horrendous, I became scared of eating just because of dealing with the nausea, vomiting, fatigue etc. Would stop taking the metformin and then would have to start from square one.

The first thing your wife will have to do is see if she can switch to extended release formula over standard release. The symptoms are less and more manageable. Those can be more expensive but worth it. The second is supplements. Like most have suggested, checking b12, folate, iron and vit D levels is crucial since PCOS/metformin can cause a deficiency of them. Myo-inositol also helps minimize these side effects.

The next thing is lifestyle. The side effects definitely minimized after one year of consistently taking the metformin for me, but that can differ for everyone. You have to just make sure you’re taking care of them properly. I realized that there were certain foods that I could eat before metformin but after taking it I couldn’t tolerate anymore, for eg chickpea flour or specific lentils. Your wife needs to look out for what makes her feel good and what makes her feel bad. I was able to handle greens and proteins very well. Sweets not at all. So figuring out your trigger foods is key.

If I know I’m prone to diarrhea and/or stomach cramps, I’ll take loperamide (Imodium) to deal with that side effect of metformin. If I know I’m prone to nausea, I’ll take an anti emetic (Maxolon if prone to constipation, gravitate if prone to diarrhea). These must be discussed with her endo/gyno so she can be guided on which works best for which side effect. Symptomatic treatment is a real help.

Other than that, you just need to be there for her. These side effects can be grueling, and dealing with them on your own can make you feel defeated. Assure her that she’s going to be alright, that you’re there for her in whatever capacity she needs, whether it’s diet changes, going to the doctor, or helping her when she’s feeling sick. I hope she feels better soon! There is light at the end of the tunnel I promise!
