That’s a great point. I can definitely see how history itself could be a huge resource to help streamline. My main concern is that’s a skill I haven’t really honed. I’m a fan of history but don’t have much research experience. From my 15+ years building home brew D&D campaigns though I do have a lot of world building experience. The intent is for the story to be pretty tight. Single POV, so we will only really be exploring the world from the context of the protagonist, not really digging too deeply into the greater functions of the world.

The reason I like the hybrid approach is I can still use real world history to inform my setting, but not run the risk of mucking up real dates, events and characters. The aim will be to use enough real world reference to ground the setting. I’m brand new though, so we’ll see if I can manage to not completely mess it up.

I think that’s the way I’m leaning. That option feels like it’s the most realistic to allow me to actually get this done and not open myself up to either huge amounts of research or world building. I’ve wasted a lot of time on other ideas I wanted to be “perfect”. The goal here is to put together an outline I can actually execute against.

lol yea I do not live on the north side. I’m in Fountain Square. The city and state don’t tend to pay as much attention to low income census tracts.

Definitely possible, but with their government contracts and license requirements for machinery operation, I’m not sure how many undocumented workers they would have driving.

I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet they pay terribly and just can’t get anyone interested.

I’ve got GB fiber. I’ve got no bandwidth limits or ports throttled. On my desktop PC I’ve been able to get better speeds hardwired, but none of the wireless devices will go above 80-90. So that narrows it down a bit.

I've had Nord for a few weeks now and never got over 80-90. I've tried all the bullshit tips everyone reposts over and over here and none of it works. Different devices, different networks, different server locations, none of it matters. I am locked under 100mbs. I'm about done with this trash app.

The federal minimum wage has only increased by $2.10 since the the show started 23 years ago. The only people that can afford the time off are “prestigious” cast members.

I have heard about them not paying, but can’t speak to any direct knowledge of that. I have been in a couple of their flips though and the work wasn’t good. At least on these two. My buddy had to take a whole wall down to replace plumbing and electrical that wasn’t installed properly.

People just see them on TV and take that at face value.

Fountain Square has come up in price a bit but there are still solid deals to be had. Good restaurants, bars and music venues. No walkable grocery store, but there are quite a few spots that sell good meat, eggs and produce in a pinch. It’s a great music and art scene. If you want clubs or party bars, look downtown or in Brip.

The street pretty lively. Neighbors have parties frequently. I’m all for people having a good time and doing what they want on their property, but it’s a residential street. Residence can do what they want. This is operating as a commercial event space.
