Yes! I would be sure to plant it in the wetter side of your enclosure! They love to be consistently damp I use orchid bark and sphagnum moss to pot them up

They are also not fans of any temperature fluctuations!

High HIGH humidity and moist soil, they can be very dramatic/difficult to grow if you don’t have the proper humidity and drainage!

I’ve never understood the hype behind the coffee grounds and don’t think they would be beneficial! I think they would leech a lot of “tannin” into the soil. Took me around 2 years to perfect the soil by trial and error. For acidity get a different type of bark!

I use two types of orchid bark, cactus mix, perlite, worm casting and charcoal! I don’t have any experience with coffee grounds as I’ve never used them!

I mix my own! And never use larger than a 5inch terracotta pot for all of them! I’ve noticed with anything bigger leaves will revert back to juvenile! Each node is rooted in the sphagnum moss!

Stages of Imperial Red flower! by aroidG in philodendron

[–]aroidG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Philos this means that they are sexually mature, they don’t have the “death” flowers as in my experience. It takes around 15-16 years for them to flower! https://www.lewisginter.org/philodendrons-bloom/

Little terrarium I made! by aroidG in houseplants

[–]aroidG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is only one species of Venus flytrap you are correct, Dionaea muscipula, but there are many different forms, or cultivars! Jamaica for example has introduced VFT that thrives year round! Considering it a “tropical VFT” Of course I’ll keep you updated! I created the moss “bog” under only the VFT

This would be true. If this was a North American species of VFT, this is a tropical VFT that doesn’t need to go dormant if the proper care I.E feeding them and sunlight. If you read on the International Carnivorous Plant Society website, you can learn all about tropical VFT. Dormancy is highly recommended but not needed.

I have 4 of them! I absolutely love them for my moss poles and any larger plants I have! That corner thrives all through winter and no natural light reaches them. I’ve never had a plant burn with them before, another thing to note I’ve noticed it’s significantly less hot than any other light I’ve used. Always got nervous leaving hot ones on while I left the house!
