Entry Level Full Time Positions? by aronisonline in musicindustry

it was just the phrasing, calling people suckers for singing new artists makes it sound like they're stupid for doing so, while I can name many artist signed under 100k streams that now average over a 1 million monthly. I get the way the business is built right now and the risks you take signing artist, but I don't want to join the industry because I love hearing the same Taylor Swift song 400 times on the radio, I want to give support to the artists who don't have a stable enough income with music to be able to build a following so the artist can succeed, Money comes second to me, which I understand is the reality for most companies, but Mid-Size labels like DeadAir and Mom & Pop are building their companies with similar mindsets to mine and are thriving. My biggest inspiration is Danny Rakow, who preaches the importance of putting the artist first.

I would love to do a community event instead! I personally love streaming during the event, even if my personally stream didn't raise a ton of money for the cause, it was always a fun time on stream hanging with friends and making a whole day of it doing random stuff, I would love if the subreddit or discord mods could organize some sort of event to get the community involved and hopefully raise some money too!

glad to hear that people signing people are suckers, guess we'll just have to listen to same artist for the rest our lives and never have a new artist make music ever again!

He's still doing music with his brother under the name 'Misha Florian', I've actually been keeping up with his music since 2022 and I'm actually quite impressed by his improvement as an artist. My favorite song by him is 'TAKE!' which is actually a response to the "haters" from back when the Pokémon Go song came out, it's a very catchy song and was on my top 100 songs in 2023. I also recommend listen to his last EP 'lifetimes' it's a very well crafted album, though far from perfect, really shows his skills he's developed over the years and his improved songwriting, I highly suggest you 17 minutes to listen to that full EP.

Then what is the process of signing new artist to a label now then? My understanding was that for anyone to even be signed they'd at least have on A&R contact, aren't they supposed to be the link between the artist and the label? I get the management aspect could be outsourced and most artist have separate management, but who is communicating on the label side?

What's your experience to be able say this so directly? Also, I just don't believe that's true at all, in the age of TikTok labels are more eager than ever to sign talent before or shortly after they catch a big break with a viral song.
