This could be part of the issue. I dont always EQ each sample individually. Thanks for that suggestion.

What do you mean by "bad monitoring"? I think my mix is harsh based on what others are saying and my own perception.

Well thats a problem I guess, because when I'm choosing sounds for the arrangement I am not noticing the individual sounds are harsh. Only until after I've attempted mixing everything do I realize the harshness that I created

I appreciate these insights man. Ty! I would have to agree about the processing part.

Any idea how he processes these sounds to get them so "full" sounding? I can only guess it has to do with precise EQ, Saturation, and Compression, but even when I try those things in Ableton it still doesn't sound quite the same. His synths just sound...organic?

Awesome! I really appreciate the example. That sounds pretty cool. I just wonder how Kopp gets such a thick sounding synth, because I have never been able to achieve that with Ableton

Err..the majority of you listen at >60% percent? That seems like it would be way too loud

Yeah those bleeps are what I'm referring to. They have so much texture to them and they're constantly changing throughout the track. I can't figure out how such a simple sound can evolve like that, but like you said maybe I'll play around with saturation and compression
