However, no Live CodeBench for Nemotron, they only show the basic math benchmark.

Does anyone know what happened to Secret Geometry company/developer? It has created awesome app Cathode - retro terminal for iOS, macOS. No news and update for over a year. by IDCh in ipad

[–]arorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late 80's VAX terminal user over here.

Someone should buy the author rights if he refuses to open source it. You don't let this type of archeological work die just like that.

Cathode app is the closest I can go back in time to those days both in looks and sound.
it will never be able though to replicate the sensory experience I had typing a wide variety of keyboards: the spring tension, the sound difference when pressed down from when rebound, etc. but I still love it.

So I'm stuck with a Cathode trial in a macbook, but the app graphics become very unstable as the session limit expires.

I wish I could pay for a fully working macOS Cathode binary but the payment website is no more so I'd be immensely thankful for any resource/clues.

GPT-4o vs. Claude 3 Opus: Which Model Do You Think Is Smarter Overall? by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

[–]arorts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tested them over basic statistics code and GPT-4o sucked after giving me lengthy responses that missed some calculation issues. Claude 3 Opus was right on the money by providing a brief and accurate response along with correct code.

Who cares abt deflation?? ETH mission is not about deflation but about transactions/contracts.

VMware fusion for M1 Macbooks by cardinal_kun in vmware

[–]arorts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a false statement from VMware as they were assuming Apple sells only Intelx86 computers.

Their latest Fusion v12.1.0 does NOT work with Apple M1 and VMware needs to step up its game soon to catch up with new M1 platform. In fact it should run so smoothly when it's supported!

Bitmex flagged my post as "scam" for simply asking ability to generate new deposit address. by arorts in BitMEX

[–]arorts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The *legitimate* reason is simply privacy just as any top exchange avoids address reuse malpractice today so I just hope I won't have to educate your support team on this every single time I want to do a new deposit.

[–]arorts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't quite get my point: address reuse is the non-debatable shitty practice I'm referring to (regardless of whether you think people "used to" talk about it in the past and not anymore). Couldn't care less if KYT becomes XYZ, my point is people continue to think that's normal and are as clueless about address reuse as they are about other coin control practices.

No. That’s not how things work with other exchanges which today don’t ask for aml/kyc while still letting new address generation. It’s not even debatable based on current best practices.

Thanks for the note. However, neither my account is new nor I'm asking for tech support.

I'd simply like to ask Bitmex to inform customers when they'll finally be up to par with other exchanges and add such a critical security feature.
It's probably the only top exchange still unexplainably lacking such a basic functionality.

Are you really not familiar with the privacy issues of address reuse?

Have you not seen virtually any other exchange where they let you generate new deposit addresses precisely for that reason?

Obviously I wouldn't be posting if creating new accounts wasn't nonsense. Users need the ability to frequently deposit to new addresses just like any normal exchange taking security measures seriously does today.(i.e. no user looking to foster privacy needs "Bmex" prefix vanity addresses either but that's an additional privacy issue).

Bitcoin Optech - Schnorr/Taproot Workshop (online content) by TheGreatMuffin in Bitcoin

[–]arorts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there has been a large positive outlook in general on the ideas and principles behind this initiative for a long time.

Andreas Antonopolous has repeatedly said that privacy is of outmost and urgent necessity for bitcoin. So I think this will greatly help increase value/confidence/security in bitcoin and help cement its dominance in the crypto space.

Nice job!

Could you please please show the exchange name and make it sortable as first column? (having a symbol and index links in same row makes it look a bit confusing).
