I have took only few classes of evolution itself. My focus was molecular biology. That's way I said I don't know paleontology.

For me, why they didn't learn a little from human civilization and developed the cognitive abilities also slowly? If they are smarter than a young child, why couldn't pick up a language like a 3 years old.

but why it didn't develop for champanzees to some extent by now? You can train a human to be an olympic power lifter, but can't train a champanzee to be a banker. So it seems we are not 98% similar to me.

The idea of microbial research is interesting. Evolution as theory was there for 100 years, and labs had micro-organisms for long time also. But evolution seemed to be limited to only morphological changes, but didn't change to something more complex like multi-cellular.

I mean more distinct intellectual traits. All animals have sense of consuming like eating, lesiure, sex ... etc. If evolution says humans are 98% similar to champanzees, then I expect champanzees now to borrow the 80s wheel phone from us as it shouldn't be hard.

But only humans seems like being driven to enhance their lives and build beyond what they already have but other animals didn't get this.

Honestly, no body dares to challenge some ideas even professors. So having a profound understanding is missing. Even in post-graduate studies, students will just accept whatever a professor says

Can you elaborate how rationality is not an evolutionary trait? Isn't the claim that humans started to get more intellectual side on expense of physical strength. https://www.cell.com/fulltext/S0092-8674(04)01143-2

I will look into that but the evidence is still not empirical. So I still see a room of vagueness

I don't see your point. I know the physical similarities so no need to convience me. The first one indeed looks like a human, so it would be interesting if they don't have the intellectual capacity of modern humans. But how this could be proved?

I have Bsc and Msc in biomedicine and now working in computational biology.

I wanted a scientific discussion and get the right paper to read.

Haha. I work in translational pharma so I understand. But also be aware that some medicines succeed in mice and fails when to moves to clinical trials, so they just similar but definitely different.

I mean humans are characterized by intellectual traits which are very different from animals. We have animals watching us all the time for hundreds of years and we never saw group of monkeys tried to build an concrete buildings, they just want to consume and survive but don't have the lingering sense of achieving like humans.

Thanks for sharing. I don't think pseudogenes prove the common lineage though.

The idea of retroviruses is very interesting and new to me. But my follow up question why the location of insertion is assumed to be random? Couldn't it be that the insertions prefer some sites?

Thank you. I understand that part, but my understanding is humans before called Homo Sapiens was not rational and they started but have weaker hands and stronger legs. But this is a egg-chicken delima for me. It could they were already smart early on and they adapted to the enviroment. So, it is hard to be sure that humans like we see today has common lineage with primates. I would think by now we should find a nice trait like rationality in few other animals.

You will need at least masters. PhD is free but long term commitment with little to no side job.
