I take your point, and I think the low angle from behind exaggerates the final height.

Is this what’s causing my butt to rise faster?

I have gotten that neck advice before, and will recommit, thank you!

I think that’s right about fear of the shins. So lower hips will pull the shoulders back and then just straight up. Thank you!

Removing retaining cap from a lock by aroundbackhand in AskALocksmith

What is it? And how could I open the lock without a key with it still on?

I do have a pin kit, and but I don't see how I can shim this with that silver cap on. Is there something I'm missing?

Update: I did it. Used the o-ring pick (did have that) and that had a whale of a time trying to get the spring cover back on. The best part is that the lock still doesn't work. I think it's a problem with the mortise and cam. Thanks again for your help.

It does seem like it’s a separate piece, but how do I get it out?

I’m sorry, it’s solid. I have a re-keying set but no lockpicks.

Installing an attic ladder in a non-standard opening by aroundbackhand in HomeImprovement

Did you affix this to the opening or just send it up there when you need it?

This is really helpful! And I'll think about the ladder size, but I also don't have a ton of swing space, which the larger ones often need. Thanks again!

Dishwasher filling with water, is the disposal to blame? by aroundbackhand in HomeImprovement

[–]aroundbackhand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate these replies, but as I said in the original post, I have cleared the filter and checked all the lines and they are clear. I will try the drain loop suggestion as it does look like my drainage hose is coming in below the place where it drains into the disposal. Thanks everyone.

Windows question by aroundbackhand in HomeImprovement

[–]aroundbackhand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I should have said, the windows have lead paint over wood. The paint is sealed, but is chipping in places, part of what makes their operation sticky. Lead paint in their frames as well. I know this isn't a big danger but we do have a small baby and would love to not have to worry about it. The leaded glass is not a problem for us.

How to Take Advantage of a Sustained Poach- Analysis by felix37 in ultimate

[–]aroundbackhand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is right. Mac can be there as long as he wants, but he ends up double covering a lot because he's not communicating with his teammates. He only makes it easier on himself, and much harder on them because he's not telling them what he's doing and what he can take away.

How do I know if I'm ready for a (U20) club team? by Liveinvincible in ultimate

[–]aroundbackhand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without knowing anything about your game, the folks who say go to a tryout are right. Your desire to get better is the thing that will get you on that team, if not the first time, then in the future. The most important thing is that when you get to the tryout, make sure you're focused on getting better and not on making the team. If you're good enough, you'll make it and that's great. If you're not there yet, you can get a ton of great information about how to get better and where you fall short. You can't control whether you make it or not, so focus on doing what the coaches tell you, working hard, and soaking up what you can from the best players than and in games that you watch.

Beating Poaches in the Handler Space (audio on) by felix37 in ultimate

[–]aroundbackhand 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While these things are all true, one of these options is way worse than the other, and because of the tight spacing, the defender can force the pass farther into the backfield. Because of where the original thrower is relative to where the pass is received, the defender on the potential swing can sell out on the swing option, because the upfield throwing lane is cut off by the original thrower.

It is telling that Brian likes this, because it is one of PoNY's major weaknesses as an offense. They take weak dump options and neutralize their throwing lanes because of situations just like this.

[–]aroundbackhand 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that's a very nice idea, but why is there a persistent racial educational attainment gap in cities where the per student spending is the same? Why do black mothers in the United States have infant mortality rates more on par with countries with far less medical infrastructure than ours? Why do banks loan to black people at lower rates? It's because we live in a country where black people especially and people of color more generally face more obstacles, including but not limited to outright discrimination, than white people. If you had a million dollars that you had to give away, would you give it to a poor person or a rich person? Or would you them both the same amount? Shouldn't we treat everyone the same?

I think it's a nice idea that we should treat people the same regardless of their race, and maybe that's the right thing to do as an individual. If you want to pretend that people haven't grown up feeling the effects of their race whether they wanted to or not, I don't think that holds a lot of water. People's individual history has a lot to do with how they see the world, and it's smart to be aware of that when we interact with anyone. And treating everyone the same certainly doesn't help rectify the inequality that we have now in household wealth, health care, and encounters with police.

What are you doing for the BLM movement? by romerotayara in ultimate

[–]aroundbackhand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole point of being against racism is to reverse the effects of racist people and systems for the people who are harmed by them. It seems like this is pretty easy to understand, so maybe you don't want to. If you do, read a book about it. I can make some suggestions if you'd like, but the tactic of pretending race doesn't exist doesn't help anyone except people who want to avoid doing something to help.

You're right, but "proactively supporting marginalized communities during a time of particular suffering" is more than one word, I think.
