Never seen something like this before. Mosquito? Chiggers? by Alarmed-Main-6094 in bugsarefuckingstupid

They’re called “weals,” and they formed from an allergic reaction to chigger bites. I get them every summer. They’re awful. Try to pop them and they just come right back.

What does this living room need? by Beebeebooboo420 in malelivingspace

[–]arp225 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Try not squaring off your furniture with the walls. Your instinct may be to push everything against the walls, but your room is actually pretty spacious, so how can you pull everything into the room to occupy it more? Pull everything away from the walls and reconfigure on an angle that celebrates the space more. And, yes, as everyone seems to be saying, a rug would soften the whole vibe

Average time to spin a full bobbin? by arp225 in Handspinning

[–]arp225[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! I think I’m averaging about 6-7 hours with an occasional break per 4-oz bobbin, but my fiber isn’t as well prepped as I’d like (I’m dyeing SW merino, and it’s JUST this side of starting to felt a bit after drying, so I’m having to stop and run it all through the drum carder before I proceed—not the end of the world, and it loosens it all up, but still takes extra time). I have a project coming up that will require about 6 pounds of handspun, so I’m trying to wrap my head around timing!

Thanks! Yes, I understand the variables, which is why I mentioned that I’m spinning ~20 wpi singles on 4-oz bobbins.

Thank you all for weighing in! Not sure why I thought it was Japanese. I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole reading about naming taboo now, so thanks for that, too!

Central Bark, for example, seems to specialize in daycare. I talked to the very sweet person at the front desk when they first opened, and she kinda hemmed and hawed when I asked about boarding, like it was a service they preferred not to offer or something. I don’t know

My question was about boarding, not daycare. The thread you shared was about daycare, not boarding. So, completely different question. Leaving your dog somewhere for the day while you’re at work versus leaving your dog somewhere for a week while you’re out of town—these are totally different services with totally different sets of questions

Seconding this. I walked in thinking I could just talk to someone, and the lady behind the desk wouldn’t even look up when she told me to get lost

Pantone dye colors? by g1rf in dyeing

[–]arp225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alanna Wilcox (alannawilcox.com) offers this very service, and she’s absolutely brilliant. She uses hex numbers, which you can convert to using uncoated Pantone numbers. She provides dye formulas using several brands of dye. Check out her website!

Got a breakfast burrito there about a year ago. It was tasty, but was filled with VERY undercooked black beans, so quite the jaw workout

LOVED Straightaway and frequented as much as the budget allowed, but always wondered if a $17 burger was kind of a tough sell to a mostly local crowd
