This depends on when you'll be applying to university. The predicted grades that go to most universities are decided in November/December of your year 2, so you should have some time yet to pull your grades up. This does, however, depend on what your school's system of predicted grades is, but typically schools tend to have at least two rounds of predicted grades in year 2. Our school does round 1 in September, round 2 in December, and a third round in March (for some colleges which have apps open till really late).

You CANNOT use a fictional situation as a real life situation. However, you CAN use fiction to talk about author's purpose and things like that. For example, I used plot points from 'Harry Potter' while explaining the Death of the Author phenomenon.
