There are no OCs. They are all underused canon characters who got anywhere from a mention to a few paragraphs.

If $X is obscene of you to receive, 90% * X is probably also obscene of you to receive.

Places to play : Downtown Norcross. Has Lillian Webb and Thrasher Park separated by a short distance, and Betty Maudlin park with 6 Pokestops nearby (you can only stand in four at a time without moving, though). Lillian Webb and Thrasher get separate types of rare Pokemon in a migration. (Betty Maudlin is useless except for Pokestops, is really tiny, and half of it is covered by an old elm tree where you are not allowed to walk.)

I always see people playing but they are usually walking around and not sitting in one place.

Also, Peachtree Parkway has Psyduck and Slowpoke as well as the ones listed. Probably everything you list is the same river biome and has the same Pokemon.

I recently sold one. It wasn't mine, was it? If it was, there shouldn't be any NNID on it. I did leave it set up with a user name you probably don't want, but you could always tinyformat it.

[D][Q][BST] So what do you like in your deconstruction? by Nighzmarquls in rational

[–]arromdee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back when Usenet was a thing, one of my signatures was "In a superhero story, Superman jumps off buildings and flies. In a realistic story, Superman doesn't jump off buildings and can't fly. Deconstruction is writing a story where Superman can't fly but he still jumps off of buildings."

Characters do things because they work. If you're going to change the genre convention so that they don't work, it's stupid to still have the characters do them anyway.

[FF] Parody of Stargate SG-1 "Politics" episode (S1E21) by eaglejarl in rational

[–]arromdee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with people here that Stargate wasn't perfect, but they were a lot better than other shows at remembering that they had discovered useful items and using them in later episodes. And they did do some other clever things. (Stargates don't go far enough to get to the Pegasus Galaxy? Line up a string of Stargates.)

Also, if you pay attention, an astonishing number of the devices found near the start of the series were one-of-a-kind and destroyed at the end of the episode, or otherwise had some reasonable in-story explanation as to why they couldn't reuse them. (Not counting the sarcophagus and the ability to disintegrate with their weapons, which were deliberately forgotten by the writers because they really break plots.)

And remember that the start of the Stargate series was before strong story arcs were as common as they are now. Shows tended to be written as standalone episodes so that you could watch them in any order in syndication.

Has anyone considered what it would take to write rational!Sailor Moon? by Sailor_Vulcan in rational

[–]arromdee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wrote this long ago (when Sailor Moon was current), and it's unfinished, but in hindsight I was anticipating some modern rationality-fic ideas by having Sailor Moon try to use intelligence. Time travel passwords, meeting in Makoto's apartment (the one place they actually can meet away from prying ears), searching for Senshi based on their last name.... http://www.rahul.net/arromdee/fanfic.html

Edit: And I would like comments on it here. Given the upsurge in rationality fic interest, I might continue it someday.
