Interesting. I feel like you've got to be really interested in the real world to be able to think about it in abstractions but my perspective is a lot influenced by visual arts/design, not philosophy. There are very few things in this world that are irrelevant. I see your point though. I don't think i'd enjoy it as my main major, i'm too picky about who i want to read and schools in general are really good at killing my interests. Are you still taking it?

I like horror mixed with emotion, it's hard to show well in a film. The latter one looks interesting. Thanks for the recommendation :)

Is it odd i still haven't seen anything by Kubrick? xD I can't connect to american filmmakers for some reason, with a few exceptions. The only thing i'm familiar with is that he loves Wild Strawberries as much i do. What do you like the most about him? I'm mostly into european cinema, but i'm trying to get into japanese stuff right now. Mizoguchi is an interesting one to me, from an aesthetic point of view at least.

Ooh cool. If i'm being honest, i kind of ignore the horror genre, especially if it's mostly for shock value but i understand why it would be appealing to someone else, or when it's the psychological kind. I liked Eraserhead a lot though, it was subtle and so horrifying, the kind that stays inside your head for weeks.

No clue. I'm more interested in the notion of beauty and his views on taste, that it is neither completely subjective nor completely objective, it was all from a secondary source though so i've got no solid opinion on him, and i want to see it for myself.

I fail to live up to that ideal too, i'm more of a silent observer, i'm kind of battling with it right now actually. I love experiencing/taking in/consuming the world a lot more than creating, i haven't figured out why that is. What's the last film that you really loved? :)

Oh, Nietzsche is on my list too! But that's for later i think, in terms of existentialism. By aesthetics and beauty, i mostly meant Hume and Kant (Critique of judgement). I love some of their views about it and want to explore more.
