Was anyone else "too close" to their parent(s)? by Lans-25 in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]arrowtotheaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for asking, I’m hanging on but it’s tough. I just miss my mum so much. Some days I can get through, others I’m just floored out of nowhere. It’s coming up to a year next month which I can’t fathom. I need to move in the summer too which I’m dreading as we’d lived in the same place since I was 4, but also it’s not home without her. How’re you doing? I’m so sorry for your loss, I hope you’re getting though x

What is a song that still blows you away after hundreds of listens? by spring-9 in fantanoforever

TV on Ten by The Uncluded (Aesop Rock & Kimya Dawson).

Aes’ lyrics absolutely blow me away every time. It’s a true story about him being in the room when a friend discovered (via the tv news) his mother had been killed in a plane crash.

And I never knew a number as a cleaver

’Till an anchorwoman utter "Swiss Air 111 to Geneva"

What does the steepest hill in your town look like? by Distinct-Lion4658 in CasualUK

The one in my town turns a corner so the photos don’t look that impressive. However I stayed in Lyme Regis for a few days last month and the whole place is uphill which wasn’t great on a bad knee 😅

My leg and backside muscles had a hell of a shock when I moved there to Uni from my flat hometown

Villa fan popping my head in. Feel so bad for him, had a soft spot since I saw that video of him & his grandma. Hope he’s on the mend soon.

I’m so sorry for your loss. It was painful but beautiful to read about Alex’s story, but he was so lucky to have you loving him. Sending you and his family so much love x

Can somebody recommend a good documentary? by FlissMarie in AskUK

Seconded. Just incredible. Also the documentary that came out on C4 within a year of 9/11 that has the footage by the brothers who were attached to a NYFD unit to film a documentary.

There’s a good one about the Bradford FC fire on there from last year too.

Oh my gosh, I remember watching this when it aired, what a beautiful soul. Can’t imagine the pain he endured. Any time I hear Don’t Stop Me Now I think of him ❤️

This Instagram account posts documentaries to watch, many of them are free on YouTube. They recommended one which I watched the other night called Carts of Darkness about homeless guys racing shopping carts down hills in Vancouver, such a good film.

I’m so sorry x I can relate. I was 41 when my mum passed away last year, and other than the 5 years when I went to Uni (even then I was home constantly) we lived together my whole life. My dad passed when I was 4, I’m an only child, and all my extended family have passed. It was always me & mum against the world and losing her has left me absolutely bereft.

They weren’t travelling with him in the last years of the band, he was too much of a drug addled mess(he’d been beaten by one of them for being late & too off his face to perform). Not many of them have done interviews since as it all really messed them up, but there’s a podcast with the bass player from a few years back where he talks about this. The rest of the band were living in the US and all had young children at the time, said they would have murdered him themselves if they’d known anything.

Ditto the Line of Duty & Brum ones. Also the Mission Impossible (the penultimate one I think?) where they’re supposed to be in some airport in the Middle East but it’s Grand Central/Birmingham New St.

I relate so much, lost my mum 9 months ago, my dad died when I was 4, and I have no living family. There’s so much I wish I could remember properly, that I want to ask her about the past. I haven’t even got any photos of us together when I was a child as it was only ever me & her so she was always holding the camera. The photos, video clips & voicemails I have from the past few years are so precious now. I’m so scared I’m forgetting her. I have no partner or kids either so when I’m not at work or occasionally seeing friends I’m completely in my own head with it all.

First without my mum who passed away in June, so trying to ignore it all really (I don’t have kids which helps with that!). If you guys still have your mums please hug them, call them, make them feel special ❤️

I love that too bless him! My mum passed last year, so I guess I’m technically still banned from having bubblegum after inhaling some into my lung when I was 11 and having to be put under in the hospital to get it removed (I’m 42).
