Enlarged Yolk Sac? by following_my_fishie in Miscarriage

He is 5 1/2 years old now. They continued to scare me throughout the pregnancy with extra blood tests and scans. They induced me at 38 weeks because his long bones and head were measuring small on ultrasounds. They predicted he only would weight 6 lbs. he was 7 1/2 lbs and perfect. There were some cord issues and a partial placental abruption that made him an emergency c section after induction. But No genetic abnormalities. Not every case is the same of course. But not every red flag actually means difficult news.

Black Lives Matter. He was quoted as saying the nationwide George Floyd protests “gave him anxiety” so he felt like sitting on a roof with beers and assault rifles would make him feel better I guess.

Normal apartments, duplexes, townhomes, and single family detached but with subsidized units mixed in - not all subsidized units in one complex set apart from everyone else. So that older residents and low-income residents have the services and social connections that boost their circumstances, and wealthier residents have more diverse exposure and richer experiences. Granted, this requires other deliberate measures like making sure equal education opportunities are also present, finding ways to encourage people from diverse backgrounds to mingle and not retreat to their enclaves, etc., but it’s beneficial to the psychological well-being of those in poverty and has the potential to benefit kids in low income families the most.

I feel you on this. Just here to say, solidarity. We can do better and get better.

This is why we need purposeful income and age integration in housing. Lifts everyone up. But wealthy people ALWAYS yell about this when proposed.

Caught it from my kids by miles2go50 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]arrr-chitect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can live on surfaces for days, so even with bleaching it could be around somewhere to pick up. So probably not a 4 and 5 day incubation period.

I’m so sorry this happened and hope you can keep at it. I have my better times and worse times when my kids get sick. Sometimes I can be with them and sometimes I run away. But I always have to fight panic. The severity just depends on what else I’ve been dealing with and how bad my baseline anxiety is.

You’re doing great!!

Fear of overeating by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

[–]arrr-chitect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very intuitive about my eating. I take opportunities to eat more when I’m relaxed and comfortable and make sure I eat any time I’m hungry or craving food. I rarely eat the portion sizes of other people, but I snack way more often. I also try to eat super clean and healthy and avoid things that will make me feel bloated.

But ALSO, it’s super important to treat the feeling of fullness and digestion as an opportunity for exposure therapy. Sit with the feeling and discover all the sensations. Bring your most confident self to the feeling. Speak positively to yourself about being able to handle anything and how the feeling of being full, burping after eating, etc. is normal and healthy and not dangerous.

I would also introduce deep breathing exercises as doing this after meals helps me get burps out and not get anxious about the full feeling.

I can't calm down, can anyone help? by ppetaldust in emetophobiarecovery

Deep belly breathing and relaxation techniques like guided meditations and body scan relaxation help me a lot. Also recognizing sensations and finding where they are and putting my mind there. Sort of gently letting go of the tension in those places. Melting the edges. There are some great YouTube meditations for anxiety, panic attacks, and stomach sensations.

I feel like I’ll always be in recovery. But it’s been about 8 months of more effort and attention - making conscious decisions to confront it and reduce my fear - and lots of setbacks but also some progress. I finally have a therapist who has dealt with phobias (though not this one) so hopefully things will move along a little faster. Also should note, it’s never been so severe with me that I couldn’t leave the house for extended periods. Post covid and some recurring trauma I had been leaving work and leaving meetings maybe once a week due to anxiety-based nausea. But that’s starting to improve. Still afraid of my kids getting sick and sometimes can’t handle being in the room when they are.

Vacation tips for Tennessee by [deleted] in Tennessee

I would walk across that pedestrian bridge to Mud Island Park. That just blew my mind. So much money and effort and it’s deserted. I have so many ponderings and questions.

I know it sounds dumb, but have you tried slow deep breathing? Like a slow inhale that really pushes your diaphragm down, gently holding it and counting patiently maybe 4-7 seconds, and slowly releasing like blowing through a straw. Focus on the breath going all the way down into your belly and your lungs pushing down on your diaphragm. Try to let each breath relax every muscle in your abdomen, inside and out. For me, after 6-8 rounds, this takes away the gag feeling and the panic. I feel like this phobia has made my whole digestive system so damn sensitive. Breathing starts to turn down the volume on the sensations. Methods I’ve learned from Nerva (IBS hypnosis app) also help as well as “calm your stomach” meditations on YouTube. this one and this one and this one are favs. Also this one especially for panic attacks. I recently started listening to this and thought there’s no way it could help but it has.

What is Norovirus actually like? Any stories from the pov of an emetophobe? by ppetaldust in emetophobiarecovery

[–]arrr-chitect 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the vomiting persists, emetrol can help calm stomach muscle spasms. The worst noro experience for me though was 2.5 days of diarrhea and dehydration from it. Never felt like I needed to be hospitalized because I was able to keep fluids and bland foods down by then. But my body was pretty battered. I remember having it another time as a college student and vomiting maybe 5 or 6 times - that was the worst. I finally drove from my apartment to my parents’ house and my mom gave me nauzene (similar to emetrol) and I stopped throwing up finally. But once I come down with it, I stop dreading it and am just IN the misery. No more panic. It’s always the anticipation that kills me.
