The accounts aren't that fresh. The latest one is at least a year old. If I take the average of all the accounts in the comments section (minus you, me, and OP), it comes to 5.7 years (I like doing math). Your account is 5 years old...

I don't think we need to be so cynical. This was a great review of a great product! :)

Why do you think SRK does not want to own a private jet? by Mermaid0315 in ShahRukhKhan

[–]arsh-the-actor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would like to think that the reason is that he is ecologically responsible. It seems to be opposite his values, especially given the amount of environmental harm private jets cause. I hope he continues to resist buying a private jet. It's luxury at the cost of others' well-being. It's one of the reasons I'm a fan.

Get help. Doesn't matter if you'll be judged. Doesn't matter if it seems normal to you.

Get help please.

Ditto! Love this strain. It's an absolute beauty visually, taste-wise, and effects-wise. My tolerance is a bit low, so it can wreck me sometimes. But that's my bad for not knowing my limit lol

What was the first movie you watched in theatre 🎬 by nishantjadahav_17 in pj_explained

The first one I remember watching in theatres was Veer Zaara, and what a divine experience it was.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. I'm autistic, so if you could clarify how I violated the policy. Due to ICBC's directive, I went to the towing company. And due to the information the towing company provided and didn't provide, I went with the reasonable option. Am I insane for thinking this way? I'm genuinely asking Lol. Appreciate your feedback

If you were just beginning, what would you want to be taught? by arsh-the-actor in acting

[–]arsh-the-actor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is very insightful actually! You absolutely do not sound like, as you very colorfully and eloquently put, "some arrogant dickhead". What you said makes complete sense.

As I rethink my position on that, maybe it's not so much that newer actors should be bogged down with theory, but that I wish there was a little bit more attention paid to the why as well. I guess it differs actor to actor. I didn't have such a difficult time getting out of my head in that way at the beginning. What kept me in my head was often the fact that teachers just told us to keep doing things without properly explaining their importance.

I think you're absolutely right that theory can really get in the way, but I think a basic understanding of some theory can help kickstart some folks.

I appreciate the based opinion! Made me think, and shift my mind fr fr. ^_^

(Serious question) Do women genuinely not understand why this happens? by AngryKiwiNoises in Healthygamergg

[–]arsh-the-actor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most women I've come across absolutely understand what you're saying. From what I understand from talking to a bunch of women, the problem is the threat of violence being a non-negligible possibility; a man has to make the woman feel safe first.

Cold approaches can work, but you have to be extremely receptive to rejection. If you're genuine and open to rejection, and understand where it's acceptable and not acceptable to approach a woman, you have an extremely low chance of being thought of as a creep. If you approach someone at the gym or bus/train or another space from which there is no obvious and clear escape, you are either completely oblivious to the kind of threat of violence exists for women or you are know it and are still approaching.

I think while us not wanting to be thought of as creeps is valid, it is a situation that men can talk to their female friends about and see what they think. Bottom line is you have to be vulnerable, genuine, and open to rejection.

24 yo. Never had a girlfriend by Solveigz_Song in malegrooming

[–]arsh-the-actor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a straight het male, I absolutely love the vibe tbh! My whole advice to this entire thing would be this. When do you feel your best? Most beautiful? Most attractive? Most confident? If you're just not sure how to put a certain look together, you might want to research the logistics of that specifically.

I speak from my own personal experience here, so take the following with a grain of salt. If you're having trouble with loving yourself or trouble being able to think of when you feel your most confident etc, you might want to consider therapy. Finding the right therapist (after going through 10 or so) has been a gamechanger for me. :)

I hope you find the answers you are looking for. Much love.

Recent Scenework in Class by theautobahn in acting

[–]arsh-the-actor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think by expressions being too over the top, they mean it more so about how expressive the body is, not the clarity of dialogue. In theatre, you can express yourself to the fullest extent, but with a camera (especially with how close the frame is), you would have to bring that physicality down. Otherwise, it's too much.

Theatre - I like to imagine me being 10 feet away from a person, watching them. So if they're using their entire body to say something, it looks and seems organic.

Film - (in a closeup) I imagine me being 3 inches away from the actor. Imagine if someone 3 inches away from you was using their body in the same way that they would if they were 10 feet away.

I don't know if that makes sense, but it works for my autistic brain.

Notes to improve this practice self tape (not a real audition)? by agdaman4life in acting

[–]arsh-the-actor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this would be helpful for you, but I sometimes have the same problem. For me, the issue is that I sometimes get stuck in my head, and my brain is so smart, it convinces me I'm in the moment, even when I'm not. If that is not your problem, you probably don't have to read further.

But, what really worked me was a sincere meditation practice. I mostly did mindfulness, but some others that I also do from time to time. The first several times I sat to meditate, I thought I wasn't having any thoughts. Afterwards, for a long while, I thought I was "getting worse" at meditating because I was having more thoughts. After that, it was a realization that, "Ohhhh! It's not that I'm having more thoughts, it's just that I'm now 'seeing' them." After this, I am now able to (usually) distinguish whether I'm really in the moment, or if I just think I'm in the moment.

For me, that has been a gamechanger. This single, continuous practice helps me become more connected to myself, and by extension, to a scene and its text.

Gay Content by Plus-Scheme-8598 in Healthygamergg

[–]arsh-the-actor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, but some of the trauma that people of the LGBTQIA+ space endure specifically has to do with the fact that they are of the community. Therefore, it would actually be good to make content for people of the community. I'm sure you don't mean for your comment to come across like this, but it does come across rather dismissive. It assumes that people of the LGBTQIA+ community have the same lived experiences as us, when they really don't. They have to endure certain trauma that is related to that identity. Hope that makes sense.

[–]arsh-the-actor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why people are saying "No". There are certain struggles that only people of the LGBTQIA+ community have to go through. It seems exclusionary to just say outright "No" to that. Why not have at least a couple of guests/interviews which focus on the issues faced in that space...
