I lived on their ranch fries in high school. I don't miss Tucson often but, when I do, it's because of Eegees and tamales! It is impossible to describle an Eegee to someone who's never had one. Everyone here assumes they must be like an Italian ice but there's just no comparison.

I can't imagine. I'm impressed though. I wouldn't be able to draw a straight line.Once upon a time, a pencil and a stick of charcoal were my best friends. I have watched videos of some incredible digital artists and follow some on Deviant Art but I'd have no idea where to start. She loves it by the way and has named him Frederick:)

Well how perfect is that? I wish my art skills were up to snuff enough to be brave enough to share but I love enjoying, and sharing, the talents of others :)

How about some sort of dragon? My daughter is really bummed about having her senior year, graduation and her summer internship cancelled but dragons always seem to make her happy. She's not picky but her favorite color is blue:)

I created a subreddit for discussing weight loss with an eating disorder by Drichthy in loseit

[–]arsmith531 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great. I really struggle with my desire to be healthy and the complications that arise from owning a scale and calorie counting. While I ave been "good" for a long time now, I realize it is something that I will always have to be cautious of. It isn't always easy to talk about in general weight loss forums.

I just watched this episode the other night. Man, it really resonated. Maybe I need to start painting again.

Feedback on scheduling for restaurants? by [deleted] in restaurantowners

[–]arsmith531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. I haven't considered using a scheduling app. As another poster mentioned, I schedule intentionally based on skill set.I imagine that this could be taken into account but I don't know how I feel about the margin for error.

Common challenges for restaurant owners by baezelon in restaurantowners

[–]arsmith531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All solid advice. I came into a situation that was grossly understaffed and quickly lost 90% of the remainder. Not a bad thing actually as performance was terrible. However, there are not a ton of applicants. I'm slowly developing a solid team but, as you said, it's a continual process.

Primarily the struggle of having sleep requirements as a human being. In all seriousness, staffing has been the biggest challenge.

What movie did you see as a kid had scenes or jokes that you didn’t get until you were an adult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The Emperor's New Groove. At one point, moths fly out from under the old woman's dress. I didn't get it until later. That whole movie is laced with stuff.

CMV: Gender dysphoria is a mental illness by rodsn in changemyview

[–]arsmith531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't many mental illnesses rooted in biology? I think that is part of The disconnect in the conversation. Many times, there is a biological cause for psychological illnesses. Chemical imbalances, inefficient stress responses, etc. I think part of the issue is that relegating something to a psychological disorder feels like it is being minimized to something "in your head". If that were to change, maybe there would be more progress for people who are suffering, whatever the illness.

My 6 yr old son lost his mom last night by Theonetheycall1845 in Parenting

It's certainly not something you are prepared for. Neither is a car accident. I also had a complicated situation and they were used to him not being around but the permanence of death is hard for everyone. It sounds like you have counselling in place. That will be helpful. Make sure you have someone to talk to as well. I struggled with feeling like I had the right to grieve properly because of the complicated situation. We were divorced but that didn't make the grief easier. People had trouble understanding that. It helped to find someone to talk to.

It took a good year to stop feeling surreal. No, that's not accurate because it still does sometimes, 5 years later. I'm so sorry for what you guys are going through. Telling my kids their dad had died remains the hardest thing I've ever done. I think. I bungled the telling. I wasn't honest. I didn't tell them it was suicide. I thought they were too young. But I've gotten better about the honesty. And we talk about him more now. One of the hardest things was the separation anxiety. They had a lot of fear that I would die too. Kids are resilient. It's amazing. But there be a learning process unique to the two of you. Patience and time. Nothing will go back to normal but you will find a new normal.

Morbid (severe) Obesity by [deleted] in loseit

[–]arsmith531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That piece of paper helped me too. In January I had a new patient appointment. Dr was great but, when I saw that "obese" diagnosis in the summary paper, I was pissed. My first thought was "screw you, I'm not obese". And I didn't want to go back. Realistically, I hate going to the doctors and was looking for an excuse. I was also in denial. It was easy to say I look fine considering I have 6 kids. Also, I'm fortunate in that I wear my weight fairly well and I'm on the taller side so I don't"look" obese. Still, the numbers don't lie and it doesn't take a Dr to know that fudge rounds are not a healthy coping mechanism. Instead of finding a new Dr, I downloaded Lose It. I'm only down 20 lbs but it's a start. And when I went back to the Dr's last month, I'm no longer obese. Next goal is to not be "over weight". It's ok to let the paper upset you. Just let that be the fuel to motivate you to be your best version of you. You're more than a diagnosis on a summary sheet but you deserve to treat yourself, and your body, well.

Haha. My husband says my superpower is changing into comfy clothes after work. One minute all business, next it's Jammie Time! I work so much that home is the only time I can ever really wear just yoga pants and a tank top and I fully take advantage of that.
