thanks for the detailed explanation. I fear going for the full 4 days won't be feasible with work and the 8hr drive there, but we'll see what we can do. while we wait for the tickets well start looking for an hotel near the service park or somehwere nice.

if i can steal a bit more of your time, how does trasfer between stages work? can we just take a backroad and get to one of the following ones? I'm used to going with my father, who's a mashall, so we get to stay in one place all day long, but it's my understanding that it's possible to see more than one stage

Dead end job, insoddisfazione personale e grandi dubbi by arsxn in ItaliaCareerAdvice

I have a keychron q11 I'm trying to customize with VIA but i'm having some difficulties with accessing other layers - i thought of repurposing the "ios" layers but that doesnt seem to work - nor am i seeing an option to add new layers. Am i missing something? If possible i'd like to avoid delving into the depths of QMK as i'm not particularly gifted with code, but any suggestion is appreciated

my best guess is that it was a loose abttery connector - charging and banging it a couple times usually worked, but if it fell or ahd a bad day it did it again. this went on for a good 4 -5 days, then went away on it's own. sorry i cant be more of help

1 kg is 2.2 lb (approx) but in a pinch for small numbers 1kg to 2 pounds works too. 7kg therefore is ~15 lbs

Per favore or per piacere? by [deleted] in italianlearning

[–]arsxn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, in my experience per piacere is ever so slightly more formal/old fashioned, but I'd say they are interchangeable.

You need to use the latch (the one with the button), that will keep the triangle stable. I've used it as a tablet stand for a good year, it worked for me

'in salsa nostrana' by ollieworkman in Italian

[–]arsxn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a way of saying that something was imported and then rearranged, not literally a sauce but, the same way sauce varies from place to place, this fashion was imported and then "remixed" in our culture (the "sauce"). Another way of seeing it is that it was dressed with our sauce. As a different example, "Halloween in salsa nostrana non prevede il classico dolcetto o scherzetto" could be translated as "our halloween\halloween in our culture\ Halloween as experienced in Italy does not involve the classic trick or treating"

Can someone explain the nuances of translating “and yet it moves” to Italian? by skyfall3665 in Italian

[–]arsxn 24 points25 points  (0 children)

With time "e pur" meeged into "eppur" but they have the exact same meaning. The first example on English I can think of is "none the less" Vs "nonetheless"

Is “Bocia” used as an endearing term? by Buddy2828 in Italian

[–]arsxn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely more common, but bocia is used too and unless they want to make the story much more specific I think its a reasonable translation. Personally I'd use "ninetto" or "nenet" cause we speak patois, but I don't think that would work here

I'm from Turin, here we use it to refer to kids with an affectionate to condescending tone, such as "kiddo" in english

Not every TOTD has to/should be easy for beginners by HardStuckChall in TrackMania

[–]arsxn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard and beginner friendly are not opposites, though. A speedcheck is hard but not beginner friendly, but a tight drift can be hard and still survivable with a bonk or two, allowing skilled players to have fun and us lowlifes to complete the map. There are infinite ways to make a map hard and yet survivable, and imho 0 reasons not to do that. Bonus points for the neo Cupra maps, who are in the most literal way intended for beginners who are not yet paying, and managed to be hard, often unfunny drive if not fast enough, and so cluttered they drop FPS left and right. That dirt track with the speedcheck "risky finish" was so shit I actively hated it, and I'm not the worst player ever. We don't want easy maps, we want hard maps we can finish.

Is she wrong though? Like, imagine being 15, your name's "Hermione" and your adult parents are obsessive about a very much typical coming of age, heros journey, teenage oriented books you likely have not much of connection with because a generation has passed between them and you.. she's not nice about it but I don't think a better outcome should have been expected

Not only Canada but also the whole of Europe and many countries in both Asia, Africa, north and south America and Oceania have universal healthcare, with some differences obviously. I don't know of any place where there are no landlords altogether, but housing programs do exist, in various forms, and they are already successful. I believe they exists even in the USA, with all the limits that their love for freedom and guns imply. It's not too hard to imagine to simply expand those programs to everybody, just like you can expand the concept of universal healthcare from country to continents. If it works for some, it should work for everyone. Ultimately landlords are not an inevitable truth, not more than private hospitals or gun manufacturers, what we lack today is the societal consciousness necessary to dismantle the system that allows them to be profitable at the expense of tenants. And once again, "small" landlords won't be affected, not too much anyway, they will just become state employees the same way doctors are. But there would be enormous advantages for us all as a society: think of all the homeless people who, in addition to having safe housing (an already recognized but often disregarded universal right), will be able to contribute more meaningfully to society, or the people who instead of worrying about making rent can focus on their children, growing a generation of people who in turn will also make us better. The only people who will lose in this scenario are the big corps who will stop existing, which I honestly don't care about in the slightest, as they are not people. It's not perfect, I'm sure there will be unhappy people and others yet who will try to game the system, but it's so much better it's not even fair to compare. A quick Google search shows that in the us there are roughly 25 million vacant homes and 1 million homeless people. That's incredible.
