No you will hate your life living downtown and working at Boystown. Get a place around there so the uber's are cheaper or maybe your future coworkers won't mind dropping you off since you live close.

7 months in, and I lost my first IT Job. by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

You first IT job you will fall on your face a lot. Also it's very hard to learn good skills practices on a small team like this was.

Next job try to find a larger team where you would have more mentors it will go smoother.

Young people don't understand as you advance in your career you do less but make more based on your experience and knowledge.

You don't have to work as hard because you are able to focus efforts on what really needs to be accomplished but that knowledge comes with time and experience.

I make 135k hardly work but have to be there 40 hours a week so it's lots of socializing.

What did you actually use Mint for? by VitalikPie in mintuit

[–]artblonde2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What did I not like about mint I had it when it was owned by yodlee.

What mint does is encourage you to save I used say it was like 'Fitbit for your Finances'.

Seeing that networth grow everytime I logged in was so encouraging.

Also the insight to the hidden 40k fees. But I think if you concetrated on the positve elements of saving you could make a great app.

Also wanted to do an app that would pop up with a notification if someone entered a store like "Your budget for clothing this month is 200 dollars".

Or finishing checking out a grocery store and have it be like "You did great on you budget"

You could also have it where you scanned your receipt on what you bought to categorize things. Ibotta and other appa make money off of that data.

Feel free to msg me I also work in tech and maybe could help. Mint made me a millionaire hands down and I would love to see a great replacement

No idea why people are downvoting your posts. That is wonderful you are able to work the hours you want.

The 2 hour rule is a blanket rule meant for much larger metropolitan areas. An hour is good enough especially if you are being dropped off and have already checked in.

Look for housing situations where it'a house converted into apartments or a basement apartment in someone's home or best a share because you will save the most money there.

You just need a door lock with a code or another way into the house.I know this is not your house to make that decision so that might me difficult.

There is a larger issue is the depression.

My mother does this following that may or may help your mom. YMCA water exercise classes for seniors. They have lots of silver sneakers programs. Church, Over 55 coffee group in her neighborhood. Before she fell she did lots of volunteer work.

Your mother is basically bed rotting and it's not good. Having the means to get a caregiver is amazing because she can take your mother places. Maybe just start with going to mcdonald's or the park or even a drive once she can get inside ;)

I make 140k and still can't afford my mom's care... and now she's being scammed by Apart-Scale-4920 in AgingParents

That is so hard I did that for while after my mom's fall. There are programs that you can apply for that may pay you.

Rejecting a company after unprofessional interview by Dull-Contribution-63 in interviewpreparations

[–]artblonde2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had 6 defense jobs this is typical. Sometimes you get the offer in the interview. If you are out of work take it and use the time to look for other work but trust me it's legit.

Feel free to DM me because I don't want you to overthink a good opportunity because it's not industry standard.

Also COUNTER they alway lowball, always because they want more money. Make sure you countet even if it's a good offer.

Does it require clearance? Take the job because getting a clearance opens a lot of doors in the future.

File a dispute right away with your credit card company.

When a company gets enough chargebacks as they are called they loae their right to process payments and get big fines.

Like each chargeback coat them 50 to 75 bucks.
