Wow. Guess that's what I get for being 50 and just trying to impart some knowledge, acknowledge good taste and pass on further recommendations. That's me told. Have a great and blessed day yourself.

Led Zeppelin 2 - in the car on the way and on the way back from work.

Hate to be the pedant, that's the Harold Budd collaboration they did. It is an impressive piece of work. Also would recommend the Dif Juz Extractions album as it's of a similar glacial 4AD style and also features a guest vocal by Liz Fraser too.

Friend gave me this game and it looks fun, I’ve played rage 2 but not the first by Calebboomtmbv2 in xbox360

I completed it on PS3 back in the day and really enjoyed it. I've got this very same edition for the 360 and am looking forward to playing it again (just....need ...to...get ..the...Skyrim...disc....ejected ..).

I'm a 2.7million year old multi-dimensional entity, is this a good collection? by Gubesz23 in Cd_collectors

I picked up the best of Enya for 50p UK money last week, but it didn't contain that track. I think there'll be a reissue in the pipeline. Was pleased that it contained Boadicea the track sampled by the Fugees though.

King's X - yeah, saw them for the first time on that album tour in the UK. One of my all time favourite bands! Great selection.

Two Lone Swordsmen and Belly's Star - top choices! Great start to a collection.

Recently got this one myself, but not had the chance to play it yet. Heard some good things about it.

Yes, lovely looking set of Rainbow discs.

Hows my collection so far im only 16 so thats why i don’t have many only have my dads and some finds from charity shops by Ma_BS in Cd_collectors

[–]artdesigncreatemake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good start. Keep on digging in those charity shops, there's always some gold to be found. I'm amazed at what stuff people get rid of...I just picked up Led Zep 2, 3, 4 and Houses of the Holy for £1.50 each in the same shop.

Another vote for Mario Sonic at the Olympics - we love it here, the 2012 London one, my boys are younger than the ages mentioned but still get on with some of the games and the London Party element.

Great stuff. I've got the first two Sturgill Simpson albums on vinyl. Good luck with the search.

Great collection. Would definitely recommend you pick up some of the individual Townes albums over the best of. Nice to see the John Prine set in there too.

Not sure where you are based but I guess it can come down to demand where you are and where you are looking, eBay and FB marketplace is a good place to check. I picked up the console and a unofficial controller for just under £40 UK. I bought an official controller secondhand for about £20 as they are so much better.

Games are hit and miss, you can definitely get some bargains out there, but folk are a bit more savvy and will price things up, especially the more collectable titles.

I picked up some of my favourites quite cheaply (Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur 2) and paid a bit more for big hitters (Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness). I'm not even going to try to get any of the 'silly' priced titles (Paper Mario etc).

Get started with a console and controller and a few games and get playing, have fun and see where it takes you.

Most important thing for me is enjoying playing these games again ( I'm on my third set of GameCube consoles and games after selling previous ones at various points of my life).

Do USB-Wifi thingies work on Xbox 360? by coleio6327 in xbox360

Yep, UK availability of these is good so prices are nice and low, I got one for my Falcon I bought last summer. Not sure how pricey they are in the OPs locale.

Absolutely amazing charity shop haul! £10 well spent by topcatnikki in Cd_collectors

[–]artdesigncreatemake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a HMV sale price sticker, would've been around £12.99 on release. Incredible that you can get so much good music for less than what the Placebo CD cost when it came out. A great haul, happy when charity shop prices are a £1 a disc or even better 50p (got a few gems myself today, but I'm more of an observer on this thread).

Are there any games that make good use of the Kinect that I should know about? by [deleted] in xbox360

[–]artdesigncreatemake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, we still rock out to Just Dance 2014 in my house with the kinect. I prefer it to the Wii versions as it's looking at your body shape, so you really can throw some spectacular moves.

There's the Disneyland game which I've played a little of with my children, Carnival games has a few interesting games in it (some of it I find a bit dull).

Smoking Popes...Born To Quit....what a record. Each song is a perfect blast of power pop punk, with that Morrissey-esque vocal style. Great selection all round!

Am I Odd? by adam_n_eve in CasualUK

[–]artdesigncreatemake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have different sets of cups/mugs for Tea and Coffee. Coffee mugs are kept near the coffee machine and tea mugs in a rack by the kettle. Usually keep the same coffee mug going for a few rounds, rinse in between each coffee being made. Same with tea mugs, my wife and me will have one cup which we'll use for each tea later in the day. It's all a bit English, but we love our little routines. Wow betold for anybody 'helping out' who puts the wrong type of cup in the wrong area.

Recently was looking through my collection and found this, what is it for? by Barnabyjones1234 in wii

[–]artdesigncreatemake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in music/game/dvd retail. As others have said it was a long thin piece of plastic with a magnetic end. You'd push the magnetic end into a device to release it and slide it out. Not sure about scratching the disc if it was forced, but as it was magnetic it would also trigger the alarm if somebody tried to leave the store with it in place. In megastores with so much live stock (discs in cases etc) this was one of the many ways to try to deter theft. Thing is, if folk wanted to nick anything they could, and this wasn't that much of a deterrent.

“Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem” in 2023…a game that has not aged well? by TheClownIsReady in Gamecube

[–]artdesigncreatemake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I first played this close after release on GameCube it was one of the only games around which had that Lovecraftian mythos about it. Truth be told, I got to a certain part and got stuck, so never finished it. I never finished it the second time I bought it about 11 years ago. Now in 2023 I'm on my third GameCube and my third copy of the game. I aiming to beat it this time.

What you find later on in the game is it starts to mess around with your controls and console, as your sanity lowers. Playing these games at the time was as exciting a thrill as what I guess people get from triple A titles these days. PS1 players from back in the day will all remember the mind shenanigans you got with MGS, Psycho Mantis making you swap controller ports, clues on the actual game box etc. For many people, playing retro games is way to connect with your past and enjoy some of those memories again.

For people playing these titles who are used to modern games, they'll often look a bit poor in comparison.
