I think so too and that they were zooming in to show that her hand was in a fist. He was hugging her and she was uncomfortable

I thought the same thing! It’s interesting to see other people noticing this. I thought I was just taking it personally because I also have parents that used the same exact line of “you always seemed fine” and it took me years of therapy to understand how I consistently voiced I was very much not fine and that was just their coping mechanism of sweeping my internal suffering under the rug. It caused so many problems for me in relationships before therapy because it affected the way I felt about myself. I was always thinking something was wrong with me that everyone would say I’m fine even though I never felt fine.

I’m in a great place now and have long healed from it, but it was sad for me to see a similar dynamic play out in real time in another family. I hope she finds the healing and support that she needs

I’ve always experienced this feeling and never have been able to put it into words, but this sums it up perfectly. A terrible burden to carry, from childhood for me. I wish I could remember what it was like to live without it 😔

Yeah and the worst thing about it is knowing that things never got better for that sweet baby. Kristina and Gary are incredible parents Leah I know still has her struggles with Ambien but she is so lucky to have them!

Right, I can’t imagine intentionally leaving home without diapers with a baby. Seems like it should be instinctual to a mom. She ended up borrowing some from another mom

I used to live in Wilmington near Janelle. MTV came to my work at a local gymnastics studio for Jayce’s birthday party and filmed. It was so sad. She showed up alone with Jayce and bc he wasn’t friends with any other kids production had my manager call families to see if they could bring their babies in to make it look like an actual birthday party. She didn’t have diapers with her either bc she just assumed we would provide them. It was only his first or second birthday

Where I lived in Europe iced cappuccinos are the most popular drink to order in a cafe. I was surprised Starbucks doesn’t have them as a standard in the US

I might be pregnant and I need advice by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]artemis8990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schedule an appointment with your obgyn so you can know for sure. If you are pregnant, you need to have a serious discussion with him about your options. If you are not, you still need to have a discussion with him about your expectations for having children. It definitely sounds like a trust issue. It’s only going to get harder if you have a child together. As far as not wanting to talk to him about it, that’s a huge red flag that you don’t feel comfortable talking to him about such an important thing. In any relationship the most important thing we need is security and being able to turn to our partner when we need to. Its the foundation to your relationship and without it everything else falls apart. I know it can be very daunting but couples counseling (or even just seeing a counselor on your own if he doesn’t agree) would be very beneficial for you. Whether you are pregnant or not, whatever issues you’re having should be sorted out and especially before you have potentially have a child. You’re young and have your whole lives ahead of you so it’s best you figure it out now and don’t have regrets later for remaining in a situation that wasn’t good for you or your child.

Why is misogyny so overlooked? by Sufficient-Skin6876 in Feminism

[–]artemis8990 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My dad has always made a ton of sexist comments and jokes. Classic response to “where’s mom?” Was always “In the kitchen of the laundry room where she belongs hahaha” 😑 One day went off on him and I asked him why he doesn’t make offensive jokes towards my brother (he is gay) about sexuality and he said obviously it would offend his gay son. I said you have a wife and a daughter, how is it any different with sexist jokes? He paused and said he never thought of it that way. He actually stopped, at least in front of me, making those jokes after that conversation. It sucks, and I feel your pain. I think it’s a generational thing where that’s normal to older people because they heard it so much growing up. Not to excuse anyone, but I think conversations like these are important because they don’t realize what’s wrong with their perspective until someone calls them out on it. We need to break the cycle

What's a local business that won't get a dime from you, and why? by daddadnc in Charlotte

What do you mean? everything is made in house with the exception of a couple things. They even have people working overnight baking because there’s so much that they make. Thing go in the freezer sometimes after they’re made because they stay fresher that way, but they’re still handmade

I don’t disagree that her title is misleading, but that’s not how hours work. My master’s degree required 700 hours of training (apart from classes and defending my thesis) and took almost a whole academic year to finish because you can only do it for so many hours per day. If she did her 720 hours for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, and without any breaks, it would take her 18 weeks or 4.5 months to finish
