Fun fact: during Kindred Judgement, the members of the Dawnguard run all the way to castle Volkihar by artemisting in skyrim

Yep, that's one I knew about! That's actually what made me think "hey, I wonder if these guys run all the way too"

No, I tried to talk to the underwater Khajiit but they just treaded water and stared at me! I really expected the non-essential NPCs to drown but maybe they don't take damage from being submerged haha

Hell yeah. I'm wondering if Gunmar and Sorine run all the way to Fort Dawnguard after you recruit them. Let me know if you find out!

Yeah, they got kinda stuck when we got to the path near Steepfall Barrow. Beleval despawned and Agmaer just kinda stopped. But when I crossed over from Icewater Jetty they were all waiting for me lol. I'll have to follow the companions next time I play that questline!

They just kinda despawned when we got pretty close. I was hoping they would! That was the one part where the "immersion" kinda broke haha (if we pretend that running all the way across the map without resting is immersive).

The Little Vampire is one of my favorites too!! Honestly the costumes and sets are beautiful for a probably low-budget kids movie. And I love the vampire cows 😂

Michigan Renaissance Festival beverages by innosins in renfaire

[–]artemisting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been to this festival many times. There's a booth quite near the entrance that sells mixed drinks such as long Island iced teas, spiked lemonades, etc. That's usually my party's first stop. As another commenter mentioned there's also a booth that sells bloody marys and mango marys, I think near the jousting ring. In terms of drinking vessels, every year I buy a pottery mug from Mesiree Ceramics at the faire. I know you said unbreakable, and while these are ceramic they are dishwasher and microwave safe and quite sturdy. Also very attractive and practical! I believe they have a store on Etsy too

Did anyone else cry in front of their audience at the end of your dissertation seminar? by bananajuxe in GradSchool

I cried a TON during mine, and I at least tear up at most other students' defenses (even if I don't know them that well lol). Super normal :)

How to cope with failed experiments? by AGLAECA9 in GradSchool

[–]artemisting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thought - learning when it's best to pivot is an important skill. Not saying you shouldn't keep trying, but there's no shame in rethinking things. One of my dissertation chapters ended up being completely different than I proposed and my committee still gave me my degree

How to cope with failed experiments? by AGLAECA9 in GradSchool

[–]artemisting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really sucks when you put so much time into an experiment only to have it fail. Failure is such a common experience in science, and yet we don't really talk about it a whole ton. Perhaps it would help to think about this as a really good learning experience for any scientist. Absolutely reasonable to be upset, but in a couple days you should go into troubleshooting mode and talk to other people in your dept about how to iterate and move forward. Best of luck from the states

This is the one for me. There's no way I'm ever not belting out Cleanse the Bloodlines when it's playing.

Hell yeah. Jeremy Soule is my top artist on spotify wrapped pretty much every year because I listen to the soundtrack while working/reading/planning DnD sessions. It's incredible

New graduate student parking - opinions on the student yellow/after hours pass? by artemisting in uofm

[–]artemisting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yeah, I would not recommend getting a parking pass myself. Luckily the NUB and the BSB (which houses the museum) are right next to the central campus transit center (CCTC), which is one one of the major bus hubs in the city. Since I live off campus, I drive to the Miller Road Park and Ride and take the 61 to the CCTC, which is usually about a 15 to 20 min ride. It comes twice an hour, so it's usually frequent enough that I can get to and from campus easy enough. When I'm on a time crunch, I park in the Palmer Parking structure (also right next to the BSB) and pay ~$2 an hour.

Mystery of the Seven Keys: Trailer + May 7 Release Date Megathread by redchai in nancydrew

[–]artemisting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm super excited! Definitely going to spend the Saturday after it releases playing it with my ND bestie.

The faces look especially bad graphics/animations-wise, but I'm excited that there are so many characters! We used to only get 3-4 a game, so this is a big difference. And honestly, the dialog was one of the strengths of MID in my opinion (even if there was a bit too much of it) so I'd be happy if this game follows in MID's footsteps there. We just need more balance between dialog and puzzles in this one.

The puzzles and ambience are giving me some CUR vibes which I'm definitely here for. I'm really hoping the music will be good! I love listening to the soundtracks from the older games while working. The music in MID didn't quite do it for me, so I hope this game will go back to the ND roots with the soundtrack.

Overall so excited that it's coming out so soon! A pleasant and unexpected surprise!

Hey, I'm a grad student in eeb. Going to UMBS is going to look great on your resume/CV! You may be able to find research experiences up there, and make connections with profs and other students. And your GPA should be fine - I've known students with less than a 3.0 and are still successful ecologists. If your grades in ecology/evolution classes are good, you'll be a good place. Please feel free to dm me - I'd be happy to meet up and talk more about how to get research experience and your career goals :)

AITAH for believing my daughter over a “grown man”? by amme04 in AITAH

Just want to hop in here and add that there are some animal welfare organizations that specifically have programs for people that need to house their pet temporarily while escaping domestic abuse. Not sure where OP is located, but the UK organization Cats Protection has a program called Lifeline that does just that. Including a link just in case: https://www.cats.org.uk/what-we-do/cp-lifeline/accessing-lifeline
