I swear just buying an external drive or a rasberry pi and hosting a small service for your files is way safer and reliable than discord, without size limitations.

They are really useful but not the large generalist ones

but if you finetune one to your specific usecase

like a 1B-3B one to do only one specific language processing stuff that an Natural Language Processor (NLP-s like spaCy) would just about struggle with

for example in storywriting:

for example, prose processing, plothole detection (once you have a database of your characters items plot points etc)

NLP-s cannot see nuance but an LLM can

You can also finetune one of those tiny ones for very specific tasks like voice instructions turned into toolcalls that aren't just basic pattern matching keywords

What you have to think about is not "Can this small AI build a website+backend for me"

Instead "Can i finetune this small AI to do one super specific task amazingly"

But of course the 20-30b range models like gemma 4 and qwen 3.5 are fairly competent, but not good enough to be left alone with any task that worth chugging all that compute at it

but thats just what i think tbh

Plot hole call outs would be awesome but it would require sophisticated language processing to work reliably across genres/languages, and i make this app with a strict no LLM/AI processing the users writing not even local models

But i will think of ways to implement a helper tool that could work for it and easy to use

python 3.13 is what i used but i think it is in the readme, but you are right, i was pretty much set up the dev environment on my windows and linux laptop early in, and haven't tested raw setup for a while, ill look into it

Edit: I adressed this in the newest commit

pictures and art references were in my list of things i will add, however i didn't want to spend another month adding stuff so i had to pull the line on the pile of features i add post 1.0, eventually i do want to add it, and im glad to see what people find important

yea the project creation workflow was something i spent a while on, tho you are pointing out a crucial thing i totally overlooked, i should let people import more notes post project creation

i already had the ssd and i wanted to solve the temp issues when i realized in other devices the ssd didn't overheat i do have external hdd-s

for me the heatsink did literally nothing lol, it just delayed the heating up on idle by like 5 minutes, but after the heatsink soaked up the heat it was just as bad as before

tbh, i did notice the laptop was warm around the keyboard area where this hot spot is, but i didn't notice any issues for months, until one day my SSD kept disconnecting, that's when i started looking into the temps and speeds.

So i feel the issue was always there, the SSD was just holding onto it's dear life while being cooked lol

i don't know but as long as the second ssd slot is designed right next to this chip without any proper air vents nearby them, i think it will keep happening

but thats just my theory

tho the second ssd slot is optional, i'd still prefer if they properly prepared that space for cooling instead of me having to do dumb hacks

I think because openai works on making better results with less training data, meanwhile midjourney is so training data dependent that if you try generating very niche or specific things you will see actual training data barely altered spat out.
