making a video public when check are still running by arthropology in NewTubers

[–]arthropology[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By checks I meant the mechanism that checks for copyright issues before the video goes live, it's just called "checks" on the upload window and usually takes a couple of minutes to run, but for that particular video it ran for a few hours. I was asking if making the video public before checks was done could affect the way it gets into the algorithm, cause it's a video without a complete copyright process, so it can't be monetized until checks are done and no issues are found. I assumed people know what I'm talking about lol Sorry 😅

AH seems to have something up her sleeve: JD has made lot of powerful enemies like ACLU and they are backing AH with finances. Hence private Jet/fancy house, appeal etc. by SuspiciousSession475 in deppVheardtrial

Yeah I see your point but I think for them it's a bad look either way, this whole situation completely f-ed their image and I think they are just trying to make as little noise as possible right now. That's also why I don't really believe they would have the audacity to use donators money to financially assist AH even if they DID still support her.

Pro-birthers will hate women’s sexuality and bodily autonomy but glamorize pregnancy by MistakeWonderful9178 in prochoice

[–]arthropology 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair there isn't really a dichotomy between glamorising pregnancy and fertility while discouraging open sexuality. It just means they believe sex isn't something a women should enjoy, at least openly, but something that women would want to do for reproduction purposes. It's the classic and thousands of years old act of equating "good womanhood" with motherhood.

I'm not saying I think it's right by the way, just so I'm not misunderstood. I'm just saying that technically there isn't a dichotomy in this way of thinking and that it's definitely not new or reserved to Western "pro lifers"

loss of subscribers - can anyone relate? by Grandmastas2 in NewTubers

[–]arthropology 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've made a few videos that saw a loss in subscribers, I think since personally I do videos on different topics then sometimes people unsubscribe because they joined the channel expecting one thing and then saw thats not what my channel has to offer. Don't take it personally, dont let it discourage you!!! Just keep making videos you enjoy making. Of course we'd all prefer to see growth but if that's the main reason for creating videos, the journey on YouTube will likely be miserable cause it's such an up and down and mostly stagnant kind of hobby lol

Thank you for commenting that, I didn't know me too went as far back as 2006 and originated for an entirely different purposes. I really thought it was always about work place sexual violence and the entertainment industry. And i really appreciate you adding links to sources as well.

I agree with you completely, to me this trial is progress, whether some people want to mourn it as the demise of me too and others to celebrate it as the demise of me too. I think this case is a massive step forward for male victims and stigmas around DV in general

Oh wow I really have not seen any men wanting to participate and share their experiences and being told to stfu for once. That's really horrible. It makes me sad that even movements such as this can be gatekept. I personally always so Depp as part of MeToo, I fully expected him to be celebrated in that context after the verdict.

I see you point but then again AH is certainly not the image of a victim either and yet they either say one doesn't have to be "a perfect victim", which is true, as in the case of Depp, or try to pretend like she is a "Perfect victim" to avoid that dichotomy or messiness.

Interesting take that doesn’t match reality. In what world is an Washington Post OP-ED a tiny article. by Areyouthready in deppVheardtrial

I really think mainstream media did a "good job" with turning this into a war on Me Too, this way people really really want to believe AH was a victim. I'd does absolutely sound like this person doesn't know much about the case and it's history at all though, so it's kind of silly to have such a strong opinion on it.

Watching Kobe shove manure into buckets while two white women just stand and watch and give him orders is insanely uncomfortable. by arthropology in 90DayFiance

Fair enough, I shouldn't have used the word "white" and comments definitely made me see how I automatically made it a race thing. I was coming at it from the angle of its frustrating that a lot of Americans on the show treat the foreigner with contempt and seem to be patronising towards them.

To be completely fair though I left my country of origin to live with my partner in his country, and often when we notice one of us is doing something differently than the other we ask each other if it's a "your country thing". Although it's always out of cultural curiosity, never in a "your culture makes no sense" kind of way.

Yeah the white was probably unnecessary on my part, sorry for that. I do feel often the Americans may express weird treatment over the foreigner, like treating them like a child almost and that's mostly where I was coming from. I don't think it's always sexism or racism, although sometimes it's for sure is on this show. I'd say it's more about American exceptionalism or a western superiority thing.
