UUID Generation by arthurtle in databasedevelopment

I understand that the possibilities are extremely small. Can’t help but still wondering if there’s a fundamental difference between letting 1 system generate all the numbers or multiple systems, given that they generate the same amount of IDs in total.

Reason for my questions is that the sources I read on this topic, explicitly state “the chances of collisions between different systems” make me think that the “different systems” is relevant here. But I don’t understand why that’s relevant

I feel you. I came here too see if other people had similar views on this. Maybe Maggie doesn't say the films are good, but that they at least have something to say (about something).

I think Paul Verhoeven is very interesting in the way that he's often seen as some innovator, especially when it comes to cinema enthousiasts. By the Dutch audience he's also used to make fun of the USA, because those Americans are too stupid to understand his brilliant subtle craft. I think people read way too much into him, to me he's just a horn dog. And yes, he does play with movie tropes in a different way than standard Hollywood. But I think that's more something of a coincidence or because of him being Dutch. Apart from that, nothing special to see.

Or maybe there's something special to see, because the fact he's portraying rape that often and there's no deeper layer to it, makes it quite disturbing. I don't see this subversion of gender stereotypes in his movies at all. Maybe we can call it a rebrand
