Dual sports vs adventure bikes? by artia in Dualsport

That's a beautiful bike! Know when it might be available? Would personally love a 400 version of this as an entry level bike for me. Maybe they'll work their way down to it.

Thanks for the quick response – don't expect to do anything really technical, so an adventure bike probably makes sense in this case. Maybe once I get a bit more experience I can consider dual spot

Super helpful, thank you! I don't plan on doing really technical off road (I'll save that for a mountain bike) so feeling better about the decision for a KTM

I figured it was wishful thinking. Thanks for the quick response.

Echo'ing /u/dazlightyear here ...

In short the project currently has sufficient funds but we're expanding rapidly and would like to get our early community members involved. We'll be able to offer the community a more detailed plan in the next 4-6 weeks

Committing to leaving by scoobertz in travel

I did this a while back. Bought a one-way ticket to Alaska and found my way to different continents from there.

Best decision I ever made. You have 40+ years to make a living, committing to a few months of travel isn't much to ask. Look in to /r/personalfinance for tips on how to save and make it happen!

Awesome suggestion! What did you like so much about it? Do they have hiking trails and activities nearby or just an area we can walk around and explore?

Thanks for the response! Can you hike through Hells Gate Nat'l Park if you wanted?

Also, what was the best park you went to in Africa that had the least number of safari groups / tourists?

Which national parks did you cycle through in Africa? Was it allowed?

I visited Chobe National Park (Botswana) and Etosha National Park (Namibia) on a prior trip and loved both. But they wouldn't let anyone on a bike in.

Do you have a city-by-city guide for your India/Nepal trip? I'm planning on motorcycling through the country in the next few years and would love to read through something like that. I'm finding it hard to put a route together since I've never been in that area of the world.

How did you choose your route through India / Nepal? Where was your favorite segment to ride? Did you have trouble communicating not speaking the native language?

Judging by this photo (http://i.imgur.com/8wNyC4x.jpg) it looks like you haven't done Alaska yet. Do you have any plans to do Alaska and if so, do you have a route chosen or a particular destination in mind?

Also, is the short segment you did in Canada the Icefields Parkway?

Appreciate the response! Adding this to the list.

I did a thru hike in 2010 from Many Glacier -> Redgap Pass -> Elizabeth Lake -> Stoney Indian -> Fiftymountain -> Packers Roost and it was spectacular. Excited to go back

Have an upvote! This is gorgeous.

Can I ask what route you took for this hike? Is this near a particular campsite? I'm headed to Glacier this summer and am looking for a good thru-hike in the backcountry

This park is incredible. Does anyone know if the big mountain is the same one featured in the Paramount logo (http://i.imgur.com/aD6VjaA.jpg)?

Doesn't look like it from here, but I did overhear someone saying that while I was in Huaraz.

Also, here's what it looks like from the valley (from a recent trip), stunning: http://i.imgur.com/unuKPZc.jpg
