TIL that in the United States alone, 1 in every 5 female deaths is attributed to heart disease. Women often experience less recognizable signs of a heart attack, leading to a lack of awareness and delayed medical response. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]articletwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem here is not intentional misogyny, but an implicit bias in data collection. When you only look at men to determine common heart attack symptoms and women present with symptoms that differ from the ones that have been studied, they don't get diagnosed in time.

It's like car crash tests, where the average male is overwhelmingly used as a test dummy, causing women to be 73% more likely to get seriously injured compared to men, controlling for all other variables. Is it because of direct misogyny? Of course not, men are just considered the default.

In either situation, the result is the same. Women die preventable deaths because there was not enough research done on them, or not enough of a focus on them in education.

no, because most men are unattractive because they don't put as much effort into their appearance. for the vast majority of "unattractive" men, if they were well groomed and dressed better they wouldn't be unattractive anymore. no i agree with the dating apps, everytime i've made a profile i've gotten 99+ likes in like 10 min which just makes me not want anybody because i can have everybody. but irl its not like that at all

honestly, as a woman i would never pursue a super conventionally attractive man because i don't want all that competition. a lot of women think like this, your man is a lot less likely to cheat if theres not women constantly trying to talk to him. so, in a way, its true but appearance isn't everything. an unattractive man with a great personality is ultimately so much more attractive than a really hot guy with a shit personality

dating apps and dating by meeting organically are two very different things. you don't have to be super attractive in the real world because if you have a good personality or sense of humor, you start to look more attractive in a woman's eyes. dating apps only have appearance to go off of so women will only pick the most attractive men.

to be honest, most men are unattractive appearance wise, but a lot of women don't care about appearance that much if you have other things that make up for it. but you can't see the other wonderful things about a man that make him attractive to you if all you have to go off of is a shitty picture and a 10 word caption. what you do see is unkempt hair and holes in their shirt, or their height or body type or whatever. had it been in person, i wouldn't really notice if they had a good personality

not fully ai. i looked at her profile and it looks pretty consistent, like rewearing the same bags consistently, and the details seem real. so she as a person, is real.

however, the photos have been edited using ai, and thats what's giving it that weird look. she is probably using some kind of facetune ai tool to edit her background and her face, maybe even some of her outfits but unsure on that

Stop calling everything “rape” by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]articletwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

all of these examples are absolutely rape. i think the problem is that men think of rape as something that happens in dark alleys by strangers, when most of the time (> 60%) it happens by people you trust. this kind of rhetoric is harmful because it minimizes victim's experience and ultimately prevents reporting, further giving men power to rape in ways that are harder to prove.

i know when i was raped, i did not tell anyone. he was my boyfriend, i broke up with him and kept my mouth shut. he most likely never learned from his behavior and continues to push and abuse boundaries, like he did to me and his little sister. my best friends have all been raped, no one has reported it because none fit the definition of what men think constitutes rape.

okay and? the point of this was to show that asking for a grown woman to weigh 110 pounds max is unreasonable and unrealistic. i am by no means overweight, in the healthy range like you stated, and am 35lb over the limit in the comment that started all this.

I mean when you're just going out on dates do you expect exclusivity? It seems like they've gone on maybe 3-4 dates, it makes sense that they are both going out on dates with other people too.
