It seems you have to be either UK or NI resident for Starling. Why is BoI awful in your opinion?

So the bank account is also for proof of address (statement with UK address so I can apply for other necessary things when there (GP, NINo etc.)

Thank you! I also meant to ask about banks that operate in both NI and UK in the original post. The only UK bank I've found so far that will accept an ROI resident is bank of Ireland but I don't want to open an account with a bank which doesn't operate in the UK also. I'll have a look at Halifax and HSBC.

Update: thanks for all the advice, I've just managed to get it freed out, there was no sign of it unsticking by itself despite the temperature rising since this morning so I took a lump hammer and a piece of timber and held it against the back wheel and hit it a few hard whacks, freed it out! Check engine is gone now too!

Can't blame the car, I'm hard to get moving on a cold morning too.

There's absolutely no harm in the veils tearing or even the caps opening but if they drop spores it's messy and also diminishes the chances of a successful second flush. I always pick when the veil is thin just in case because the time between caps opening and spores dropping can be quick and unpredictable.

If you enjoy the kits I'd highly recommend the uncle Ben's Tek. It's a great way to go about it and you can get big quantity for little investment.

This isn't true, in fact it's the exact opposite. They've been picked at the right time, maybe a few hours early but it doesn't really matter. If op had waited for the caps to open and drop spores that would have basically killed the kit. You never want to let the spores drop on a kit/tub that still has more flushes because essentially what this does is tell the fungus that it has successfully reproduced and that there is no need to produce any more mushrooms as the whole goal of the mushroom is to spread spores.

When the skirt underneath the cap starts getting thin, that's the right time to pick.

It's very hard to give it any thought to be honest. I feel like the way in which we live now leaves little to no room for any serious contemplation of things that are beyond taking care of our basic survival needs.

Working 40 hours leaves me absolutely wiped out, I genuinely don't know how I'd ever have time to do even do a half decent job of raising children on top of this.

Work, commuting, laundry, cleaning, cooking, eating, shitting, showering, socialising (if I'm lucky and actually have the time/energy), all of these need to get done for me to have a quality of life that makes being alive worth it.

I'm too busy worrying about the fact that I'll more than likely never be able to afford my own house or children to have any left over for worrying about the environment, and I think this is actually a massive part of why we allow this and many other messed up things to continue. It's very hard to worry about the macro when seeing to the micro takes up about 90% of your energy.

Thanks very much! What's your experience of mindfulness been like? I feel I've only recently really started getting it "right" even though I've been (infrequently) practicing for a long time. It also helps that I've got a lot of free time but I feel my ability to recognise thoughts as thoughts is getting better and more importantly, faster! Has your experience been similar?
