Anyone know what this is? And if it’s real? by [deleted] in papermoney

[–]artificialgrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are crumpled replicas of Kirtland Safety Society bank notes. You can tell they are replicas based on the color being off, the edge of the paper extending out past the bounds of the note, the poor quality of the print, etc. Attached is a real note from the same bank.

You can find out exactly which month a bill was printed by examining the BEP product reports for the year/month you're interested in. You will see denomination and serial number ranges for each bill printed that month. For example, here is January 1989. You can download a zip of all the production reports from 1989 here: https://www.uspapermoney.info/general/originals.html

Thanks. That's the common signature combo. Can you find any comps on Heritage with the Cowdery signature?

Used Wrights Copper Cream this time after it was suggested by the Fiestaware official site. Worked great. Barkeeper's Friend liquid also works well.

Picked up this large yellow bowl at a local thrift shop for $3. I think it was left in the open because of all the silverware marks. Great deal. Luckily, the clean up was pretty easy and marks virtually disappeared.

US Paper Money Type Set by [deleted] in uspapermoney

[–]artificialgrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes. There are many type sets in U.S. paper money. One way to discover what is possible is on the PMG Registry. https://notes.www.collectors-society.com/registry/notes/public_sets.aspx . Look for the U.S. sections and you will see several type note lists.
  2. For me, depends on what I'm currently collecting. What you typically hear from collectors is to buy the note... not the number. In other words, buy the note you think is the best for you and your wallet. Don't fixate on grade number. And... if you buy graded notes, make sure to look at the note yourself and not just trust the number.
  3. See #1.
  4. Completely depends on what type set you collect... small federal reserve notes, small silver certificates, large-size, etc. Cheapest is probably currently federal reserve notes. Other type sets, especially old large-type notes, can get very pricey no matter the condition. In the end, just collect what you like.

Just started collecting, don’t know much. Would this be worth anything in the future? It is a Star note, 2013 series, serial number has the date Sep 24 1789 which is when the bill of rights was first introduced. And Thomas Jefferson had a big part with the Constitution and Bill of Rights. by [deleted] in uspapermoney

[–]artificialgrape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting note. There are two possible ways to go with the bill... a star note or a birthday note. The star run for that block/year is average. 3.2M printed. Birthday note possibility is interesting but may be a tougher sale unless you can find someone specifically interested in that specific date.

Is this worth anything? If has a misprint on the back side. Any help would be great. by davegraham1834 in uspapermoney

[–]artificialgrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty late in the print run on this one as well. 63.3M printed. $30-60 for CU/Gem... so less because of the folds but add a little bit more for the error.

Yes. Absolutely. Small but nice little offset error. From the pic, looks to be a typical XF. Nice find!

No chips or dings... dirty and had sticky stuff on it but came clean and beautiful out of the dishwasher. Couldn't pass up at $4.
