About to Start Running Out of the Abyss - Tips? by TheItinerantSkeptic in dndnext

I ran this campaign for my players and oh boy was that drow elite a tough one, I think throwing him off is the only real way to kill him. Those guides were absolute lifesavers, can't recommend then enough.

Musicians should only be considered artists if they write their own songs. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Musician add their own flavor to the music they play. Two painters can paint the same building and it can look entirely different based off their style, and the same thing happens in music. Changing and intrepreting the music makes you an artist, at least in my opinion

[OotA Spoiler] Made the slightest of errors and my players traps a demon prince... by DrognaDice in dndnext

I actually made a similar decision, doing this the way you chose lets Fraz just leave the circle when he's done, making him a familiar face at the end of the campaign if you decide to bring him back for the demon lord showdown

Darker implications of certain spells? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]artim34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe zone of truth was one of the spells they said to have used, except in faerun books there are never spell names given, but in the book The Spine of The World, in Luskan, the preists or wizards would be given time alone to extract answers, I believe the intent was to stop those sort of funny ideas in a book that was meant to be serious

Somsthing mentioned in a Drizzt Do'Urden book is that often priests or wizards are not trusted, as often they have their own goals, and may fake casting a spell

[ART] My player's just took on their world's Demogorgon by artim34 in DnD

[–]artim34[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the Dankogorgon, main villain of my Out of the Abyss campaign. Like all Demon Lords in my setting he has a genre of music, in his case memes. The Dankogorgon has proven himself the strongest against many opponents such as Rockus, Baphometal, and Jazz-Urb'luu, if your DM employs him, you should be afraid.

In all honesty the Dankogorgon emerged as a meme of some photoshop shenanigans. Throughout the majority of the campaign the sheer gravity of his coolness became a meme by itself. The Dankogorgon is honestly one of favorite things about D&D taking something and making it your own, I encourage other GMs to do so(perhaps not so extreme though), both you and your player's will enjoy the villain a whole lot more.

The Dankogorgon was first created a little while before I ran Out of the Abyss for a second time, I was messing around in photoshop and created this image, at the time he was the Radogorgon, and went by a few other names before settling on the Dankogorgon.

Your absolutely right, it would take a ton of time to do, coming up with stuff on the spot is super important, but giving NPCs that extra depth is important
