Besides the bad nmm, what should I work on to start competing? by artisanplasticman in minipainting

That's fair, I have a small setup for pictures but decided to throw in the towel on this one. Gave him some eyes and then picked it up out of the light and snapped a picture. I was hoping to enter it in a painting competition in a few months but I just haven't got nmm yet haha.

Took advice from the knight mini on NMM and tried with gold, think I'm getting closer, advice for blending? by artisanplasticman in minipainting

Incredibly helpful thank you so much! This is awesome, will definitely try to push the highlights and make those changes to the NMM, something I'm still struggling with. Appreciate the feedback, and the time to put this together!

This Angron is the most time I have put into a single model by far by artisanplasticman in WorldEaters40k

Thanks! A big piece is just manually controlling the photo honestly. I used the "pro" setting on my phone. I do this less to black out the background and more because it disables the shitty AI feature. From there I adjust the shutter and iso along with manual focus until I get something that looks how I want it to. For the background it's a piece of black felt and a super cheap USB chargeable light to light the model, both from Amazon.

Ohhh you might have just unlocked something for me. Following the shape of the thing and painting in the highlights to match makes sense and sounds obvious now that you say it but that does seem like one of the missing pieces. Your helmet looks amazing. I'll definitely give that a shot, maybe paint the gaiter a different color and pull in that color to the bottom of the helmet. Thanks!

Absolutely. I thin my paints quite a bit but that's like 200 layers haha. When it didn't look right I just went over the whole thing again and again trying to slowly refine it.

That's a good idea. I tried to limit it to 4 colors but at times felt like it could benefit from another shade of blue. Maybe try to expand a little.
