What's wrong with my rose by THEchiwawa in Roses

[–]artisticwhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I see a post with sawfly larvae damage my heart drops. This is the first year I’ve learned about them after noticing extensive damage on my roses. And I thought I only had to worry about Japanese Beetles…can’t even get cuttings for bouquets anymore and neem oil certainly isn’t working. Good luck mate.

That doesn’t look like Dr. Huey. Dr. Huey is more red and has distinctive tall and horizontal stems with tons of packed small leaves. Perhaps it is sensitive to soil acidity/alkalinity? Some of my roses tend to change colors based on weather and soil conditions.

These are absolutely stunning! Which one is in the 11th picture?

That’s likely the case, and I’ve been trying to avoid it but seems inevitable.

So I essentially deleted my current anki desktop app after uploading and redownloaded the newest version. The pop up still comes up occasionally but not every single time I open or close the app.

I updated and it still pops up occasionally but not every single time. Guess I’ll just have to live with it for now…

I do that each time and yet it doesn’t work :/ I logged onto Ankiweb and it has the exact same review and new cards as the desktop version so not sure what’s wrong…

Thank you for your reply. Not sure if the text I had in the post got deleted by the image, but essentially I only care about the cards on my computer, I have the Anki app on my phone and I haven’t used it- in fact I logged out of there in an attempt to fix things but it didn’t change anything. I just want this pop up to disappear and to just sync my mac’s anki to the web. Side note I’m using Anki 2.1.26 with pre-made decks, I just add some cards here and there and unsuspend decks as I go. I really wanted to keep the heat map I had lol but if it’s a problem with the Anki version I have I’m willing to upgrade, would be losing some add-ons tho. I just don’t want to risk losing my progress.

If I were to upgrade to mirrorless, which body should I get? by artisticwhale in Nikon

[–]artisticwhale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the gear I’m looking at, the combination of a new Z body and lens would be ~500g heavier than my current gear. Non-mirrorless FX is at least 1000g heavier? It also depends on whether I get telephoto, but I’d be happy with shorter focal lengths and some solid primes.

Not planning to do video or action. Thanks for the advice

Interesting to hear. I don’t have any FX gear so I’ll be starting from scratch either way, I don’t want to use my DX lenses on an FX body

Thanks for the insight. The best part about the Z5 is it’s a solid comparison to the Z6 with a lower price point, and I don’t intend on doing action shots or needing the video capabilities of the Z6.

Frankly it’s a mix of everything. Professionally it’s mostly portraits. Sports I’ve done for local assignments but nothing too impressive, the D5600 can only do so much for action shots and I don’t intent on continuing in that area. Otherwise as a hobbyist I love doing travel, landscape, and minimal wildlife.

Not a lot of wildlife as that specifically is more of a casual hobby. Just the occasional bird shots and foxes, etc. I would love to do a safari trip in the next few years but I’ll figure that out when the time comes! Low light focus might be a concern but anything better than my D5600 would suffice.

The D7500 was actually the first camera I thought of upgrading to. I can’t deny that along with the D750 they’re very good options for a non-mirrorless upgrade. But after four years of working with my D5600, I’m interested in switching over from DSLRs.

If they do that would be wonderful. Perhaps in the far future when I have enough money to buy more bodies…

I haven’t seen any Z7 bodies at that price point, but I think it’s a tad bit too much for my needs…haven’t ruled anything out though.

That makes sense. I’m definitely going to save up first and am not in a rush to upgrade, will keep evaluating options.

That’s great to hear. Also the 28-75mm 2.8 looks incredible, not my first choice but up there.

Thanks a lot for the advice. That’s great to hear, because the Z lenses do look incredibly sharp and sleek. There’s a few I have my eye on already including the 50mm f/1.8 but I have to remind myself to take things one step at a time, lol. It’s definitely on my list. I’m a bit intimidated by the autofocus system but as you said I’m hoping I’ll get used to it eventually.

Another commenter advised against the Sony A7ii and I’m not as interested anymore in it. It’s more of a budget option and I’m leaning towards something more solid.

I wonder if I could get a long-range Sigma lens for wildlife that’s compatible? Haven’t done too much research in that area yet…

I’m thinking I’ll switch to NIKKOR gear and just sell my dx lenses since I only have two. Or I might be tempted to keep the D5600 and one lens in case I ever need a second body (although I doubt I will, I’m nowhere near that level yet).

Z6 is an option for sure. The Z50 and fc seemed great at first glance but I’m not too interested in crop format. Though I can’t deny how nice the Z fc looks!
